I'm highly adverse to 4th wall violation. It's a lazy writer's tactic, and I've yet to see a clever 4th wall violation in print (it works on stage and sometimes in TV, though, if the actor sells it). Will Smith, Fresh Prince. When he acknowledges the camera, It worked every time. |

"Venom" has been in talks since '03.
It will undoubtedly be Eddie Brock because he's the Venom that the fans will pay to see, and it will undoubtedly suck for the reasons stated above by WildKnight.
Sinister Six? That makes no sense whatsoever.

I can guarantee he won't be more than a bit player in either, if he appears at all. If you're going to make a movie about the backstory of a villain attached to one of your most famous characters, you call it a sequel, not a spin-off. I expect him to in the Sinister 6 movie ALOT, He was after all the reason Dr. Octopus started the group. |

If you're making a movie with Spider-Man as the protagonist, you call it "Spider-Man".. you don't call it a Sinister Six movie. Chances are they'll be facing off against one or more minor Marvel characters, probably from the "Spidey family" or the "Marvel Knights" groups. |

Flash Thompson is Venom now? What the heck? Yes. He lot his legs in Iraq and is now a spy for the government (possibly SHIELD, I can never keep all of the government agencies straight in Marvel comics, seems like they're ALL SHIELD at some point), and the Venom symbiote replaces his legs, etc. It's readable, but not great, and obviously as a fanboy I want Eddie back. |

Chances are it will have Spider-Man in some flashback scenes, probably clips taken directly from the Spider-Man movies, but he won't be the primary foe that they face. I'll be shocked if he appears in any "new" scenes at all. You forget how willing the studios are to toss out canon entirely if they think there's a buck to be made. |

But upon further debating, I've decided Sony's going to say "screw it" and combine Eddie and Flash's venom origins/arcs and say "we did it. We're friggin' genius's." |

Now that you mention it... that's probably almost certainly what'll happen. They'll transition Flash directly from "Peter's bully/Spider-Man's #1 fan" to being Venom. It could make a good story.
