Possibly one of my favorite bands that still performs today, although definitely not as well as they used to before the crash. Which song is their greatest?

Also yes, I realize a few of these are covers done by Lynyrd Skynyrd...

Simple Man, no question.

I agree, Simple Man is quite possibly my favorite song ever.

It's a toss up between simple man and Free bird for me. I flipped a coin because I couldn't decide.

I like Sweet Home Alabama, but I'll vote Simple Man.

I might as well just have put only Free Bird and Simple Man up there.

Simple Man is the only Lynyrd Skynyrd song I like. I prefer one of the Shinedown versions more though, but this will suffice because I like the original version too (even if it's not as much).

I actually like the Shinedown version more too... or at least as much, but Skynard has done some great music. Everybody likes Sweet Home Alabama, yeesh.

I would say the large majority of the songs VanZant wrote were good songs. After his death most of the songs that they put out there became typical southern "The South Will Rise Again" bulls***.

I don't think I've ever heard a "the South shall rise again" song from them. Ever LOL For the most part when they got political, it was pretty left wing, like Saturday Night Special 8) Obviously it wasn't Skynard, but I was a fan of this song too...

Let me rephrase myself (even if I didn't have to).
I like the songs that they make, I just don't like how they perform them because I'm not a fan. I don't hate them or anything, but I've never thought they were too special.

Yeah obviously you're free to enjoy or not enjoy whatever music... but I've got some redneck in me, so I like 'em (they're not my favorite by any means though)

Is Floyd a song, or are you referring to the Pink variety? 8)

I looked at the lyrics, it's a "rednecks are cool" song but I don't see any "the south shall rise again" type sentiment in there. As an anti-authoritarian yourself, I thought you'd appreciate the notion of an old swamp dog getting one over on the Feds.
