Blood and violence, the core of the Mortal Kombat games. Fight to the death, kill your opponents in gruesome ways. This series is not for the kiddies or those with a weak stomach.
However this series has thrived console generation over console generation.
So in this thread we discuss this series, games we like, characters we like, fatalities we like. Heck even stuff we don't like.
Honestly my 2 favorite games are MK4 on N64 and MK9 on PS3. Characters I like on MK4.
- Tanya. - Sub Zero. - Lou Kang.
Characters I like on MK9.
- Mileena. - Katina. - Sub Zero. - Scorpion.
What games and characters do you like? Lets discuss the series here.

My favorite MK was MK2 though I've really not played a lot.
My favorite characters are Raden Liu Kang Johnny Cage and Baraka.
Also you could create the perfect Creeper from Jeepers Creepers on Armageddon.

Give him long white hair and the cowboy hat on the game. It also has bat wings. It's perfect.

I expect something about how utterly badass Sub Zero and Scorpion are.

I expect something about how utterly badass Sub Zero and Scorpion are. Nope, actually they are two of my least favorite characters within the universe (they are still pretty badass though. It's hard to compare them to the badassness of the rest of the universe though, but nonetheless). Favorite Characters: Baraka Batman Blaze Caro Chameleon Smoke (Cyber) Cyrax Darrius Deathstroke The Terminator Drahmin Earth God Ermac Flash Freddy Krueger Frost Fujin Goro Great Kung Lao Hsu Hao Blaze (as a human) - is better than Gigantic Blaze, but I like them both. Reptile (Human) Hydro Jade Jax Johnny Cage (One of my favorites, tied with two others) Joker Kabal (Only 2011 game, but nonetheless) Kano Kenshi (Only 2011 game, but nonetheless) Kitana Kobra Kratos Kung Lao Li Mei Liu Kang Masked Guards Meat Mileena Mokap Moloch Motaro (Original) - He always struck me as awesome and unique. Nightwolf Nitara Noob Saibot - Tied for my favorite with two others). Onaga The Dragon King Raiden Rain Reiko Reptile (Non-Human) - Like him better than the human one... Ruutuu - Looks cool and simple to me, lol. Scorpion - Badass, but overrated. Sektor Shadow Preists Shang Tsung Shao Kahn Sheeva Shinnok Sindel Skarlet Smoke (Human) - One of my favorites, tied with 2 others. Stryker Sub-Zero (both) - Badass, but still overrated Taven Tremor Water God Least Favorite Characters (Most are still pretty badass): Motaro (2 Legged) Argus Ashrah Bo Rai Cho Braan Captain Marvel (Shazam) Catwoman Cyber Sub-Zero Daegon Dairou Dark Khan Darkseid Delia Fire God Green Lantern Havik Hornbuckle Hotaru Jarek Jataaka Kai Khameleon Kia Kintaro Kira Lex Luthor Mavado Monster (From Armageddon's story mode) - Was a disgrace, especially since it was just Scorpion's moveset and he looked like garbage. Oni Warlord - Shaolin Monks Story Mode. He looked boring to me. Orin - Caro looked cooler to me. Orochi Hellbeast - Could of looked cooler and lived up to his name. Overlord Zeff - The way he acted just annoyed me. Pedro - Although never came about officially, his whole story sucked. Quan Chi Red Robin Sareena Shujinko - Would've been cool if he was himself and not a Chameleon wannabe. Sonya Blade Superman Tanya Tasia Wonder Woman Wu Lae Liu Kang (Zombie) - Hate him as a zombie.... Honorable Mentions that make neither list: Aqua Baphomet - If he were to actually be playable, he would be amazing. Belokk - See Baphomet Emerald Hachiman - I actually think I would hate this guy. Ice Beast - Struck me as cool in Armageddon's story mode. Jerrod - I've always wanted to play as Kitana's real father.... King Gorbak - I've always wanted to play as him as well. Living Tree - Obviously not playable fore reasons....but they're awesome. Nimbus Terrafuax - Great Prank....great background as well. Would be a neat addition. No Face Stan Looth - Thankfully, this janitor never made it in a game. Stunt Man Tiamant Zebron - Still want to play as him. I agree that Zombie Liu Kang was not good. And while Sub Zero is among my all time favorites, I don't like Cyber Sub Zero.
I liked Tanya the most in MK4 on N64. She was one of the weaker players, but she was quick and I always ended up pisses my friends off doing that move where jumps on your shoulders, and twists her body around to break your neck. lol.
The other game I used her in was... not sure if it's Deadly Alliance or Armageddon. It was one of the PS2 games. She was, eh. She was alright I guess, but felt like a downgrade of her MK4 counterpart. She also felt to slow on PS2. So I don't really use her much now outside MK4.
Actually Mileena on MK9 (PS3) feels way more more like how the PS2 version of Tanya should of been, outside the whole semi Baraka personality and eating people that Mileena has lol.
Liu Kang is a guy I felt has suffered over the years as well. Loved him on MK4 (64), he was a top guy. Hated him on all PS2 games I played. He's acceptable AT BEST in MK9.
I think they need to really speed up the series to be honest, closer match the pace of the old MK4. I think this is why I much prefer MK9 over the PS2 games, MK9 feels a bit quicker and more responsive. PS2 games are just to damn slow.
Man in MK4 action between my buddy and me used to get so fast and wild that we would sometimes (especially if we picked the same character) would get lost at where we was. lol. It was awesome. We had guys like Scorpion and Raiden make Goku from DBZ look like he teleports in slow motion.
I wonder why they slowed it down so much? The series was fun as hell on N64 in all out hyper speed.

I actually like slower combat as long as it's not too slow (which Deadly Alliance was too slow). I think slower combat allows for both players to capture a comeback. Deception and Armageddon I thought were great games, but I like every Mortal Kombat game and I've literally played every single one, lol. I'm an MK fanatic. 2011 was a step in the right direction. If they make another MK game, I think they should go with their original plans of making a game from scratch with new kombatants and powers and styles and such.

Well if I'm not mistaken the lead character of the series is Liu Kang, and they killed him and turned him into a zombie. I mean where do you go from there? A reboot of the series was obvious on the way once that happened.
And am I the only one super annoyed that the games never let you play as Goro outside some super special match. What the fuck? They let us play as Sheeva? This annoyed the hell out of me in MK9.
You could play Sheeva but not Shou Khan, Goro, or that 4 are tiger monster, whatever the fuck his name is. lol

Kung Lao I will agree is pretty cool. I love the MK9 fatality where he saws people in half.

In general, most games don't even let you play as bosses, so therefore I was never really bothered by it. Generally, bosses are OP anyways.

Also Katana is really good to play as in MK9. I think she's underrated, and I never really used her in other games, so maybe she never played that good.
But in MK9 she IS very, very well done and a blast to play as.

In MK9, they completely made them all awesome. Rain was never bad to me, but they took, something that was good, and made it great in his case).

Can somebody please tell me how the FUCK you are supposed to do a 8 hit combo to Sheeva with Liu Kang in the Challenge Tower on MK9.
Most of the time you can't count on a X-RAY, Sheeva has you dead by the time you get one. And I can't get anything more then 5 hits strong together with Liu Kang.
