... you have Kanye West on your iPod? More importantly; you own an apple product? I won this conversation. I just had a basic mp3 player before being exposed to the ipod. I have to say, the click wheel sold me. I despise Kanye West (clearly) and don't think that he's particularly good. I'm willing to say, however, that he (and / or other collaborators) occasionally stumbles upon a melody that I legitimately enjoy. Fun fact: Before Youtube's recent and pointless restructuring, my comment about the shame that I felt for liking something by Kanye West was the top-rated comment on the page.

You listen to Kanye AND own an apple product. Your opinion on music is null and void.

Tell you what: When I come looking for guidance about mind-blowing music you can take me through your Third Day collection.

Tell you what: When I come looking for guidance about mind-blowing music you can take me through your Third Day collection. Third Day is my wife's thing but I'll put them up against anything Kanye has done any day of the week. I don't even have to like them all that much in order to be sure that they're better than the "musical genius" of Kanye West.

Lol I don't even know why you're building Kanye up as something to knock down, I already told you that I think he's a scumbag who's not very good. But if I like a tune, I like a tune. I'm sure that even Nirvana was capable of producing a song that I actually liked. I mean, they didn't, but I wouldn't let my opinion of the singer determine that.

Lol I don't even know why you're building Kanye up as something to knock down I'm not, I'm just bagging on you 8) But it's not as if I've never heard any of Kanye's music to know that totally aside from the fact that he's a worthless excuse for a human being, his music is also terrible.

Did you listen to any of that song of his that I linked? I fully expect you to hate it, but I at least want you to hear the melody. It's what I like about it, I feel that it's a neat little tune. I first heard it in a car commercial, without lyrics of any kind, and no indication that it had anything to do with Kanye West. When I looked it up and saw his involvement of course I was certainly disappointed, but I couldn't summarily turn around and dislike the song just because of it. I mean I could, but that would be dishonestly silly.

Are either of you two fans of John Legend?

I think I would be hard pressed to name anything by him. Not my thing. He seems relatively talented, but his music doesn't do anything for me.

I took the time to find the commercial that had the Kanye West song in it, before I knew that it had anything to do with Kanye West. It's thirty seconds long and has Worf in it. Humor me and watch it.
I liked the tune. No Kanye.

... sounds more like a sound effect on repeat than music....

It's the instrumental version without lyrics so it definitely seems that way to begin with, but in addition it's one of those "let's loop this one hook for the commercial" things as well. The full song has more variation but you don't want to listen to it. But no, it's not at all a complex song and yes, as is typical of all lazy modern hip-hop: the backbone of the tune is essentially an instrumental sample set on repeat. I just happen to like it. I didn't know that there was a full-length cut of the instrumental version until you posted it though, Tom. Now I can use that one and Kanye won't even be on my ipod anymore.

You could've just straight-up posted the instrumental you know I'm really digging it, thanks for posting. As the top comment of the video says, "So much better than Jayz and that 'other guy' talking shit over the top."
