What would happen if in this day and age a war were to break out between the US and Europe? Who would win? Who would be most damaged economically and structurally?
In my opinion it's quite obvious that the US would have the advantage for the most part, and I'm sure a few of your are highly likely to disagree(Monkey) so I shall issue my explanations.
1. America would have naval dominance, as they have more Carriers than the rest of the world combined(The USA has 19, where as the rest of the world has 18, with 11 in Europe and 7 in Asia), and in today's world naval combat is entirely based on Carriers, as they have not only the most firepower, but also the most range. The battle out at sea would be rather one-sided.
2.The US has tactical advantage, with multiple bases stationed in almost every European country. These bases though are not well supported as it currently stands, but were push come to shove and Europe tried to co-ordinate against the US somehow, the US would almost certainly find out(Heavily to do with the fact that spies are extremely common in today's world) and would be able to give them a bit more support(Were they of course willing to have their soldiers there, and chose not to pull out) from the bases in the middle east and Africa quite quickly. This would then disarray Europe before they were even able to co-ordinate and the land battle would be pretty difficult for Europe.
3. Who would grab air dominance however becomes a bit more debatable. The US might have less jets and such up there, but they have the technical superiority. Europe would probably come out ahead in the air, but not without heavy losses on the ground and in the air.
Of course none of this really matters since the likelihood of a Europe-US war is very low, but it's fun to theorize. What are your opinions of this scenario?
