lol I'm the same with D&D, always seemed like my sort of thing but never got around to it. I like CCG's and RPG's both. Though I've only ever played a few online CCG's and/or apps. Never played an RPG that wasn't a video game. Cool, I'll add you to the list of people that are going to be forced to try out a table top RPG on Roll20 with Mike 8)

I always thought Magic: The Gathering looked cool but I never got around to getting into it. Skip the cards, buy dice. RPGs are where it's at man! (I'm going to recruit enough people to run a game on Roll20 or something) I vote no reason not to do both. Magic is a very fun game with limitless concepts of deck construct. And you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars to have a competitive deck. Now that I'm older Married with kids and own a house to maintain, I don't always have the time to find people that all have the same small window of free time that I have. I can find one or two friends from time to time to play a few hands of cards. Would be cool to find a GOOD group to play D&D with though.

I see I've touched a nerve No not really LOL I am not a fan, that's true, but I don't have a strong personal feeling about it anymore. It's just not my thing. In high school, I passionately hated M:tG (to the point that some friends and I once stole an entire case of Magic cards from a new set that was being released and burned them to amuse ourselves) due to the fact that I had been playing D&D for years, and many of the same people that insisted that D&D was "satanic" were now playing M:tG every single day at lunch. It was eyeroll inducing to hear people who insisted that somehow I was in the clutches of Lucifer every time I rolled a d20 to see if I could hit an orc, saying things like "I sacrifice my whatever to summon a whatever." Grand total of times I've "sacrificed" anything in D&D? Zero. But you grow up and you re-think your positions and get less bitter about the stupidity others have inflicted on you. In my case, I simply came to look on it as a hobby that I simply don't share. I moved my irrational hatred to MMOs years ago 8) THE GAME WAS OUT WHEN YOU WERE IN HIGH SCHOOL!!!!!!!! *In JR's voice* BAH GAWD!!!'

Are these people gonna make me throw out my Def Leopord records? Probably. A couple of those are actually pretty good cards. I could make a far more Demonic top ten list though. Besides they fail to mention the vast array of Angellic cards to thwart the dark army of Satan's minions

Besides they fail to mention the vast array of Angellic cards to thwart the dark army of Satan's minions Yeah, those groups tend not to be real big on research. I was privileged to attend private Christian schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade, and was unfortunately fed a pretty steady diet of anti-heavy metal, anti-Dungeons & Dragons propaganda videos as part of that education. Many of those videos contained "information" that was, as best as I can tell, made up out of wholecloth, including passages from D&D books that were nowhere to be found if you had an actual copy of the books in question. Those videos may, actually, be a huge part of how I became so adamantly opposed to the "big fib" mentality. Having an important message to spread doesn't justify lying to get people to pay attention.

Also, I've always thought RPGs looked fun....closest I've had to role playing is the wrestling stuff they do on the forums, lol. Isn't exactly the type of roleplaying I've always wanted to try, lol.

I remember making fun of "the new trend" of Magic back when the card shop where I played Mortal Kombat II as a teenager started selling them. This was in 1994, around the same time that I tried to find someone to play the Illuminati card game with me.
I also remember that in the mid 80s one of my cousins had some sweet D&D setup with some kind of demonic-looking black and red plastic gate or tower that sat in the middle of the play field. I reached for it excitedly because it looked like it would be cool to play with but someone warned me not to because it was evil.

Roll20 is a "virtual table top" for RPGs, it's free and pretty solidly functional. A lot of work for GMs if you want to use maps and minis though

I think a lot of people had similar experiences which is a real shame because table top RPGs are not only a lot of fun, they're a rare social outlet for a lot of people who have trouble with more "normal" socialization, and can really help people to find and understand themselves in a unique way. .. on top of that, a lot of those same adults who constantly warned against the evils of D&D never had problems with buying their kids Nintendo games involving wizards, zombies, and all the rest of it.

You know what I never understood? Video game card games. It's like anything else; if you can't find friends to play with, your console is always there.
