funny how it's called "austin syndrome" when hbk made a strong practice of high tailing it when he didn't get all his demands met. i get hating on austin is a cottage industry here, but hbk is guilty of same tactics.. You just don't know how inspirational Stone Cold is. *Honk*

.. would strongly debate the notion that Goldberg comes across as intelligent. Nah, you were...I hesitate to say "impressed" so let's go with "surprised"...at the brief interview that he cut regarding Bret's concussion about a year ago. They caught him in the box of some baseball game, he rapped about a few different subjects for ten or fifteen minutes and I remember that while you didn't favor the way he regarded the incident (saying, essentially, that he's always felt guilty but that he's apologized and didn't know what else he was supposed to do about it) you were otherwise satisfied with his candor.

To be fair, I hated Austin before I knew any of the backstage crap that justified my hatred. I just saw him as a complete garbage wrestler who had abandoned his once moderate ability in favor of a bunch of punchkick and a stupid looking Finisher and a gimmick that appealed to the worst possible element of the wrestling fanbase.
... then I found out he was also a drunken dumbass who slapped women around and thought he was God's gift to the industry.

Actually that was the interview where I thought he sounded like an idiot. He claimed to be apologetic about Bret's injury, then went on to brag about his stiff work later on, without ever seeming to connect that the two might be related. Even your average dumbass will usually make that kind of connection if they say those things out loud in the same brief statement 8) I also found him claiming that there was no reason for him to ever work more than 2 minutes to be completely asinine.

That completely sounds like you but I specifically recall that there was something about his conversation that you enjoyed, to the point that I found myself surprised that I liked the interview less than you did. Also, +10 for that entirely accurate Austin assessment back there.

And you say Austin thought he was god's gift I've never claimed Austin was the only offender in the world. There are plenty of massive egos in the world of professional wrestling, and I try to be objective in my assessment of them. There have been a lot of guys who, in their own mind, were God's gift to wrestling. Without even flexing a brain cell; Buddy Rogers, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, HBK, Bill Goldberg... even a few relative nobodies like Austin Aries have been under the mistaken impression that the wrestling world revolved around them.

i've trashed warrior for holding up wwf/vince for more money a few times.. That's my point; nobody cuts him any slack over that. Not in my experience anyway. Not counting his faithful followers, anyway.

IF Punk is legitimately as sick as he says, I don't have an issue with him choosing to pack it in, but he still should have left in a more constructive manner.

goldberg was doomed from the start Doesn't Warrior still claim he was a scapegoat for failing that steroid test 22 years ago.

Well pretty selfish of punk. You sign a contract and you honor it. I don't feel bad for him at all. That being said, I see his point. CM Punk being upset of Batista getting a shot may have been the straw, but honestly he's be complaining for quite sometime. As far as I'm concerned for WWE they should just move on.

If that is true of Punk concerning his health it's unfortunate for him. I've had an illness for some time and doctors can't really figure out what's wrong. I've eventually given up and I just live with it.
Considering everything, I still don't blame the guy.

Punk could have asked Wwe for some time off. He could have told Wwe he'll finish this angle with HHH than go away for a few months. I like Punk but he needs to grow up.

But aren't you a fan of Ric? Buddy Rogers was Ric's idol. You also forgot Scott Steiner and nowadays, Bret Hart. Well, Bret has developed some vile ego....
