I have a friend who, despite being my age, I find to be an excellent mentor. It's not the bisexual druggie...is it? NO NO NO. My purpose for being friends with him is to show him God, not forcefully of course.

... anyone else think Joey should have been beaten harder to knock some sense into him? 8) my parents never lifted a finger to me. My father grew up with a very abusive mother and swore to never to hit his kids. Also I would never challenge or provoke my father. There is always that dad fear. Plus he could kick my ass up down the street at 50 years old. Can't tell you how many stories I was told not even bye him but other people about insane of a fighter my dad was.

I think my dad hit me once, when I ignored my sister getting injured. Oh, and they hit me when I did something life endangering, like running out in the road or sticking my finger in a plug. Other than that, I usually got the "Go sit and think about what you've done" thing. Made me a naturally very guilty person, I've been good ever since.

And I don't think there's really anything you can learn from me... Of course there is. Your experiences are unique to you, or at least your viewpoint on them is. I learn things from everyone. For instance, I was teaching the youth bible study at church today (13 year olds), and one of the girls I was working with is a swimmer. I learned a lot about competitive swimming, and about how she approaches it.

True, true. I've always been paranoid about people on the internet, quite frankly. You should be, and so should Steve. I've always encouraged him to examine everything I say and everything else he reads. Maybe I'm wrong, and whoever I'm disagreeing with is right. The ability to win an argument is not the same as being right. If nothing else, you should always be aware of where someone is coming from so that you can pick up on how their personal experiences might color their thinking.

Plenty. No one knows everything, no one's walked all life's paths.

First of all I'm SURE there are things that everyone here knows that I don't... but learning from someone isn't a simple matter of facts. Ideas and thoughts and experiences are all meaningful. They're sometimes difficult for me because they're more abstract, but I do catalog them in my own way and try to process them.
For the record, I do love hearing/reading about people's life experiences. I'm fascinated with the broad functions of humanity

Now I don't feel like I'm just forcing my life story onto people. ... I am sorry for whatever you guys have learned from me. We can't all be saints. *Honk* You gave me a feeling of brotherhood, being a part of something bigger... a clown army.

Thanks. I'd really love to top the moment off with a heartfelt confession about how I do it as a kind gesture. But I've got alcohol to drink, birds to flip, and people to piss off. *Honk*
