Yea I have no desire to view this Pay per view ever, but its cool that they offer it up and allow those that want to a chance to view it. I plan on getting the network on day one.

the WWE Network is pretty close to UFC Fight Pass. the glaring difference is, Fight Pass doesn't include ppv's in it's monthly rate..

does the issue of them profiting from the crime come into play? No, because they're not profiting directly from the crime. They're profiting from work he did before the crime, and then only peripherally because he was part of the PPV

As much flak as I give Vince and the WWE, I'm happy to give them credit for those rare times that they really do seem to make a call for the fans. I've always said that while I agree to their right to edit or censor their footage as they see fit, I've also argued that by doing so they achieve very little aside from ruining an otherwise decent show. I don't like the idea of editing the past to make it more appealing to those in the present, what happened happened. Let people decide for themselves what WWE matches they want to see. I'm a little bummed that my copy of OTE '99 will be that less special, though. Seconded.

I don't really have the desire to see Over the Edge as the tragedy that occurred that night is really the only lasting memory of it. But although thus is an obvious question exactly what portions other than the promo Owen gave before the accident and the accident itself would be left out. Not much was shown to begin with. Aside from a couple "later tonight" still shots that I may be forgetting, Owen didn't even appear on the program until his promo against the Godfather was aired. While it was playing (onscreen for the viewers at home as well as on the Titantron in the darkened arena) the accident occurred, with Owen slamming onto the top rope right next to the lower-right side of the hard camera and bouncing forward into the ring. After the promo ended the PPV camera was focused on the crowd, many of whom were standing and watching the ring, as JR began his somber explanation of what had happened. He repeatedly insisted, calmly but sternly, that it was not part of the night's scripted entertainment. Right behind him in the front row was a member of the audience who was trying to communicate to the viewers at home what had happened. He did this by pointing toward the rafters, making a gesture that indicated a long fall, and ended by making the "cut throat" sign and shaking his head. He did this a couple of times, absolutely certain that Owen was gone. It was eerie, as was Jerry Lawler- returning from having dashed into the ring to help Owen- on the verge of tears as he quietly told JR "It doesn't look good at all". After five or ten minutes of JR continuing to explain things the crowd started a gentle cheer, indicating the fact that Owen was now being carried out on the stretcher (they had no idea that he was, by this time, for all intents and purposes already dead) though of course this wasn't shown in the PPV. The show then cut to a live promo from a visibly shaken Jeff Jarrett and Debra, who had the unfortunate duty of going on about taking revenge and defending her "puppies". At the end of the promo Jeff and Debra fought back tears as they said they were praying for Owen and quickly headed out to their match. What's probably eeriest of all is that there was a giant smear of blood left behind after Owen's fall which stayed there the rest of the night. The people operating the cameras obviously tried not to film it though in order to capture the action they caught occasional glimpses. Mick Foley spoke of being so out of it with grief and confusion that he didn't remember his match, all he could think about was the fact that he had to stand two feet away from Owen's blood. I think about 30-45 minutes later, between matches, a ghost-white Lawler and a somber JR briefly took the time to tell the home audience that Owen had died. The crowd was never told, and for the most part seemed to go along with the rest of the show relatively normally. The strangest aspect of the whole thing is that by the end of the show, in order to carry on, JR and Lawler eventually got back into character and were screaming and amping up about the main event which was Steve Austin vs. The Rock. Throughout this match, especially during a segment where Austin is stomping Rock near the ropes, Owen's giant smear of blood can be seen with complete clarity. It will indeed be interesting to see how they handle the rebroadcast of this show.
