Either he put on even more by the time he was made champion, or I just didn't notice the initial girth. I honestly don't remember him being so big when he debuted with the WWE. I'm sure that he gained some weight to convincingly pull off the "heavyweight" thing.
If he had to bulk up just to join the WWE, then that's actually even sadder.

The thought was out there that Rey started doing steroids around 1999. Eddie started bulking up around then as well.

Yeah Eddie got huge. I noticed in one of the Rumbles (I think it was a Rumble, he was fighting Chavo) that his back was just covered in acne.

I'm not really sure why Eddie started bulking up around that time.. his stock was on the rise. Even as myopic as they were, WCW saw that he was going places whether they liked it or not. Such a shame.
