at yet no wrestling fan wants to see him....exception of course is mike. he wants 1986 back... Mike is secretly Shane McMahon, and he's finally matured to the point where he follows his dad's taste in men...

Actually these "public awareness" studies have been shown to be highly ineffective. It's not that their methods of data collection are inaccurate... it's just that the perception of the general public is relatively meaningless. Lots of people who have been shown to have HUGE "recognizability" and very high marks for being "effective" are consistently weak performers in terms of actually producing profits, while people with fairly low ratings have scored huge hits.

Well, you have to take into account that most people think Lance Armstrong went to the moon.
Hallucinogenic drugs don't count.

I'm curious as to how George Foreman has higher awareness percent than Muhammad Ali.

I'm curious as to how George Foreman has higher awareness percent than Muhammad Ali. Because he's been a much more public figure in the last 20 years.

and yet no wrestling fan wants to see him....exception of course is mike. he wants 1986 back... Huh? I crap on Hulk Hogan all the time. He's a liar, a self-aggrandizing egotist and a terrible wrestler who sired even more terrible children. Just because I grew up loving him doesn't mean that I want to see him wrestle now.

Besides, you DID defend using Warrior as a marketing gimmick in 2013 (which failed utterly, btw), and Lesnar back in... '11? So it's not like there's NO precedent for you defending nostalgia-based marketing 8)

I did? I think I just said that using Warrior to push WWE 2K14 was a good idea if the goal was to raise awareness of the game and the old-school portion of its roster.

What else would the goal of marketing be? 8) I actually ended up thinking the Warrior ad was one of the funniest things I'd seen in a good while... but as I predicted, it was a huge failure as a marketing gimmick, because nobody gives a $#@! about the Ultimate Warrior in 2013. I wonder when WWE will catch on...

Judging at least from the reaction of the forums, Warrior WAS generally met with emotions ranging from apathy to spite. It seemed that Razor and Goldberg got a much more enthusiastic response, for better or worse.

Because he's been a much more public figure in the last 20 years. So what about Mike Tyson? Foreman is more recognized than Tyson? That I have difficulty understanding. I'm thinking it's the "women" factor. Foreman did the rounds of all the daytime talk shows, and has been on numerous "home shopping" style programs. I don't think that Tyson has been involved in anything women, en masse, have seen in quite some time.

The quote mentions the other highest recognition among athletes, and Mike Tyson wasn't mentioned, while Foreman was(And apparently 96% of people in the US know of him). Also I tried accessing this celebrity DBI thing, but have thus far been unsuccessful.

Dude George Foreman Knocked out the fat by marketing the Foreman Grill. Those things sold like hot cakes. He was all over the T.V. for a long time with those. And they were actually a decent product. I imagine that's why he gets more recognition. That and he laid out Ali.

Foreman has an outstanding record but, unfortunately, he didn't beat Ali. Ali won in the famous Rumble in the Jungle, aka "the one where he ran away and hung out on the ropes instead of boxing".
Foreman DID ask for a rematch- repeatedly- but never got one, Ali was too busy defending his title against people that no one had ever heard of.
