They're doing such a great job of those things. That's why we have an educational system that a third world country would be ashamed of that is more interested in forcing political ideation down children's throats than in actually teaching facts, an infrastructure that is dangerously out of date, and emergency services are actually contracted to private companies virtually everywhere... and are still understaffed, underfunded, and using out-of-date equipment.
