I despise American Pie as well. Overplayed, overlong, and aside from the chorus more or less forgettable. Four months is a long time to make a list, bro. You get points for quite a few of these songs. Unfortunately you lose all of them for including "Rooster". I literally made it within 5 minutes today.
C'mon, I had to put in Alice and Chains one way or another. I'd expect someone to bash Steely Dan over them...
It's not even Alice in Chains (who I hate), it's that damn song. It's just terrible. The chorus is like nails on chalkboard. It's like someone took everything that was bad about the grunge movement (mainly the voices), packed it into a big wet nasally slab of goo, and slowly dragged it down my face. " Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah we come to snuff the roosteeeeeeeeeerrrrr". Ugh. I admit, however, that I really like "Got Me Wrong". Had you included that one instead I would have considered you a noble citizen.

I really should knock American Pie off my list...and a few others. I also should add some songs.
Meh, I'm too lazy.

I've never heard Got Me Wrong. Would you accept Man in a Box instead?

Weird Al's parody of American Pie is 10x better. Just saying.

There's nothing wrong with loving American Pie, it seems that many people do. I just think it's a tiresome tune.
I'm off to check out the other AIC song now.
EDIT: Oh my GOD, no. I've always hated that song and never knew who was responsible for it. Thank you for helping me to at least put a name to it.

Because they're also totally overrated? Some good songs though, all the same.

I figured you'd hate it. I just like the chorus. Admittedly, the song is just a bit sacrilegious "Jeeeeeeesssssuuuuuussss Christ! (Deny your maker!)"

I hate Weird Al's version of American Pie too. I don't think anyone can make the melody attractive to me. I find it grating. There's nothing wrong with loving American Pie, it seems that many people do. I just think it's a tiresome tune. I'm off to check out the other AIC song now. EDIT: Oh my GOD, no. I always just knew it as "The LAAAAAWLAAAAAWLAAAA" song. And oh god (no pun intended) the lyrics you posted are now flooding back to me. I'm grabbing my head in pain, remembering everything that I hated about my stripper girlfriend's 1997 music collection.

Completely forgot about Journey. Time to fix that.

See, we agree on some things. If I made a top 30 (or probably even a top twenty) songs of all time list, that would probably be on it.
