they are all ridiculous. none of them should be rated that high. cain has a striking rating in the high 90's. good boxing sure, but a question mark for a chin and no kicking game makes that a very inflated number...i could go on.. |

i finally saw the "controversial" episode of TUF. the reason i put controversial in quotes because i don't see the same controversy that everyone else has. and i will say Dana White was dead wrong in saying the fight was poorly scored. it was absolutely scored correctly. the problem was their method in "picking" a winner. simply because there shouldn't have been a winner. it should have been a majority draw. if the competition (i hate to use the word show) doesn't have a contingency for majority draws, then what are they to do? they circled the name of the fighter whom the judges thought won the fight on it's entirety. which coincidentally is how mma fights should be scored. the 10 point must is far too vague for a complex sport like mma. what should have happened is the fight ruled a majority draw, both fighters are eliminated from the competition and a fighter who lost previously in the tournament should have been brought back into the mix. or, maybe have those two men fight again. anything would have been better than ignoring the athletic commission's own edict on how fights are scored, sure the circumstance of it being basically a single elimination tournament complicates things. but then again that likelihood should have been taken into consideration when mapping out the format of the competition.
if a fighter has a point deducted because of a foul, and the judges feel said fighter won the round then yes, 9-9 is the proper score based on the 10 point must. the judges scoring it that way was the only right thing that happened.
AND FUCK STEVE MAZZAGATTI. people trash Kim Winslow, she's Herb Dean by comparison..

Also Pettis sub is higher than his striking and that one round video of Pettis/Aldo looked shitty. looks like they sped it up to hide a bad frame rate, and the collision detection is bad..when Pettis rocked Aldo i rolled the video back 3 times to find the strike that did the rocking and never could. maybe the detection seems off because of the video being sped up..that with the ridiculous rating, not looking good. |

that looks cool. loved how the designed it so the arm is isolated first as opposed to just trowing the legs up from the guard. that throw looked sloppy as hell though.
