We all know certain singers/bands who deserve a fair amount of praise for their work but are given way too much credit. So out of this list who would you say is the winner of this dubious honor.

LOL The Beatles and Elvis own the word "overrated" when it comes to the music industry.

LOL The Beatles and Elvis own the word "overrated" when it comes to the music industry. true although I think the Only area the Beatles are mostly justifiable praised is their impact on the recording of music (which again someone could've just as easily used those techniques first) and even then they weren't necessarily the first to use a live band or double tracking go my knowledge just the ones that popularized it

I should've put Lennon as a solo artist as well. Talk about unnecessary praise

Speaking of which, where is Joey? Someone's gotta have some way to tell him about this place.

And pretty much automatically thought anyone whose point of view differed from his was wrong or invalid.

I voted for Dylan too, because he's terrible, but he's not nearly as popular or beloved as The Beatles or Elvis, either.
As far as the notion that the Beatles had such a huge impact... if by that you mean that they proved the economic viability of the boy band model, sure. If you mean that their music was in any way original or revolutionary, no.
