When I talked with him he didn't seem to slur at all. He moved pretty sluggishly in the ring, but he was very clear speaking. His eyes still look like he's perma-stoned though

I'm not sure when the shoot took place in relation to when you met him but yeah, he was a little hard to understand at times. The kind of mumble where you're not sure if it's from his past excesses or just the natural cadence of his casual speech. Maybe "slur" was the wrong way to put it, he struck me as coherent but not really putting in a conscious effort to enunciate and always distinguish his words from one another.

It had to be 2012 when I saw him. No idea when that commentary was made, I don't have time to watch it right now and try to figure it out from context.

Long story shortened for my convenience, wrestling has always been in my life. My dad always watched it, so if I could, I'd watch intently with him, and it came on and off for me until about 2008.
Some of the things that made me love this art form? Look no further than Triple H. A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, my dad got a WWE documentary on Triple H. I happened to be in the right place at the right time, and I got to witness Triple H's career. He was over the top, in a grim, realistic way. He wasn't a pill popping Hulkster, or a rainbow faced warrior, he was cold, grizzly, calculating, he was all business from his facial expression, to his entrance, to his match. Which he lost?!?
Sure, the guy who beat him was pretty cool in his own right (it would be a few years before I learned just who had slain The Game) but this guy was a veritable machine, how could he lose? and then I watched in amazement as he forced a lowly referee to reverse a decision that cost him the world championship, before firing and assaulting said referee. Heel tactics? Pfft. I was right in this guy's corner. Screw you, Hebner! Triple H played the heel, and I saw him go toe to toe with Shawn Michaels and his very friends in Evolution, but Hunter wasn't about being a douche for the sake of being so, he wanted the world heavyweight championship more than anyone in the back, and he was willing to do anything if it meant he got to hold it for a few precious seconds. Intentional or not, Triple H's mannerisms and actions made that belt, gave that belt life, it was the ultimate goal, he believed it, and he made me believe it too.
I was amazed with this guy, and the quiet kid who could sneak up on a ninja started asking eighty questions a minute about the wrestling business, all of which my dad was courteous enough to answer in depth.
Whenever my dad got another WWE DVD, it was my top priority to watch it.
Flash forward to 2008, we've just gotten cable after years without it, and finally, after all those years, we're watching Raw live. Several weeks later, Monday night, my dad's going upstairs to bed, but before he leaves, he gives me the remote. Gee, what ever am I going to do with this? I turned that baby to Raw and I haven't turned back.

I think that shoot is from last year, I just posted it so you could get an example of his mumbly dialogue.

Of course being that I figured the thread was dead for the night I didn't anticipate a need to quote Knight's comment so everyone would know who I was responding to, which means that "Murphy's Law of non-quotations" is still as healthy as ever.

I knew it. No one in their right mind would still be watching Raw.

I got into wrestling, believe it or not, through the WWE All-Stars game. I was looking through the demos on Xbox Live, looking for something that me and my buddy could play. We picked All-Stars because he grew up with wrestling, so we played it, and we loved it. (Though I WAS bothered by Warrior only wearing trunks, I got over it) I bought All-Stars release day, played the crap out of it, and started watching the shows.
As for what made me stay, that was the Miz's WWE Title reign, R-Truth's Conspiracy gimmick, and Mark Henry's Hall of Pain gimmick.

I'm quite shocked at how many people were introduced to wrestling through video games.

First match ever...Eddie Guerrero vs Mr. Kennedy, one week before his death...I did anything to look for the program again and I did about 2-3 weeks later, and it just wowed me. Then I went online and searched for Eddie Guerrero and literally cried because I found out he passed away D: But I'll never forget that.

I'm quite shocked at how many people were introduced to wrestling through video games. I myself am surprised at how many people have only been into wrestling for 5-10 years. Nothing wrong with that, it just makes me feel very old.

I've been into wrestling 10 years this June, what got me started surprisingly was the Wrestlemania XIX game for Gamecube. I had played No Mercy and Revenge on the 64 before that and really liked them too but not enough to make me actually check it out.

I came in at about 2009 so my list.
Number one : Sheamus as a heel. One of the few guys I disliked for all the right reasons. Looking back I loved the way he was packaged as just this tough guy with Brutus moves and found whatever wY he could to inflict pain on his opponents
Post accent Kofi Kingston: I loved the small fued he and Orton had and seeing him become less gimmicky. Probably my first exposure to high flyers. And even though he hasn't connected with fans as well as he should and has one countless meaningless mid card titles I still enjoy him.
John Morrison :While he could never really cut a good face promo and possessed no real ground game something about the guys style and theatrics one me over
