I think I'm alone in that I really enjoyed ACIV, in that I think it was a "nice break" from the ongoing metaplot for the most part. Your character wasn't mostly an idealist, he was a good(ish) guy who struggled with normal human stuff and fought more for himself and his immediate friends and comrades than for high notions...
But I'm hoping that Unity kind of returns to the more traditional mold
