There are so many real problems in this country that I am flabbergasted at how many people buy into this "obesity epidemic" mentality. Almost half of all Americans don't pay any taxes, and for the first time since WWII, our middle class isn't the wealthiest in the world (worse yet, it's Canada that got ahead of us...). I'm sorry but I don't see where I should take "oh my gosh we're all fat!" as a serious problem. |

Let me put it to you this way; you find me any culture that was ever shown to be in decline because people were fat. Even one. For each one you find, I'll find you three cultures that went into fatal decline for each of the following reasons; loss of manufacturing base, loss of national/cultural pride, onerous taxation policies, overly burdensome welfare requirements, and class warfare. "People are fat" is not a problem that puts cultures in decline. In fact, it's only a problem at all if the culture in question has, for some reason, decided that everyone's health is everyone else's problem 8) |
