In the ultimate universe the symbiote was created by Peter and Eddie's father as a cure for cancer.
Norman was the Goblin in the Ultimate Universe, too. Harry might've become Hobgoblin at some point, I dunno, I stopped caring.
Seeing as how Norman is supposedly dying, I assumed they'd turn him into the hulking ultimate Goblin as desperate men do desperate things, but I guess they're turning Harry into the Goblin, Norman into Venom, Eddie into Scorpion, Gwen into Black Cat, Mary Jane to Silver Sable, Jameson to Punisher, and Otto to Human Torch.
It makes perfect sense.

I don't remember this at all Jameson distrusted people who wore masks. That was the supposed reason for his hatred of Spider-Man. The reason he distrusted people who wore masks was because the criminals who killed his wife wore masks. It was implied, though not implicitly stated, that Jameson used his reporter skills to find out who they were and "got rid of them" |

Actually it wasn't a horrible Spidey Movie. It was better than ASM 1 by a long shot. There were some touching moments with Emma Stone she was wonderful. Now there were some glaring plot holes, but by and large it's one of the better Spidey movies made.

Having actually seen the movie, I'm fairly certain that the orb does not contain the Venom symbiote. When you see it on the big screen, it looks like a piece of tech, not animate goo.

I don't remember even seeing the orb in the movie. SPOILER what are the odds Norman is still alive as we'll Richard SPOILER OVER. Also I prefered Asm 1 over this one. I felt like this was a missed opprutunity
