No 17 was No DQ, 19 was just a normal match lol. The ending was very dramatic. The third Rock / Austin match was the worst. I mean it was okay but nothing on the level of the knockdown, drag-out brawls that made up the first two. Shame, since Rock finally got to win this one. I've heard that it wasn't spectacular because Austin was broken or sore from his neck or knee problems or something like that. Well considering I never watched the first Rock/Austin match, I think so far 19 was better than 17 but then again, I have watched the 19 match about 3 times and the 17 match once. It wasn't spectacular because both men were leaving (Wrestlemania 20 anyone?) and wouldn't wrestle on a regular basis. I really think Goldberg vs The Rock and Steve Austin vs Triple H would of been better than what originally happened.

I don't really remember the specifics but I think that Wrestlemania 18 was promoted as having two main events: The championship match for the undisputed title and the Rock v Hogan special attraction. They may or may not have distinctly referred to both as main events but I think they probably made it clear that they were both of high importance. My memory is just that they spent more time hyping Hogan's match.
I never personally heard of Hogan and Rock against the Outsiders but it could have been a good idea. I don't even remember what happened at Backlash, that may even have been when Hogan beat Triple H for the championship. As for Austin, there's not much story to tell. He was bitching about having to fight Scott Hall (presumably because he wanted to be at the top of the card, like always) and he was bitching that he didn't like how his character was being handled (probably because he wanted to be at the top of the card, like always) so the day after Wrestlemania, even though he was scheduled to be on Raw, he literally just hopped on a plane and flew home then beat his wife a few weeks later. His official reason for walking out, at least what I remember from his book, is that people just didn't understand the physical and mental pain that he was in, or something.

I despise Austin yet even I can wholeheartedly admit that the main event of Wrestlemania 17 was a firecracker of a match. It was a wild brawl all over the place, a really grueling contest full of action and violence. Not much in the way of actual wrestling of course, but for sheer energetic spectacle it was pretty damn satisfying. Wrestlemania 19 was just much more subdued. It was shorter, took place in the middle of the card, wasn't for a title, and you're right- Austin's injuries and Rocky's Hollywood career had signaled the end of their full-time careers. In my opinion it wasn't a bad match, it just wasn't a great one.

Rock/Austin at mania 19 was second last, lol I am not really a fan of the kind of brawl around the arena kind of matches, which is why i prefer 19 over 17, though i did like the ending to their match at 17

His official reason for walking out, at least what I remember from his book, is that people just didn't understand the physical and mental pain that he was in, or something. I could tell Jericho/HHH was hyped as a main match, I mean it ended the show when Hogan and Rock should of really ended it...I guess WWE never learns from there mistake (AKA putting Orton/HHH last when Taker and Michaels should of at WM 25). What happened at WM 18 was the outsiders attacked both Rock & Hogan setting that match up but I don't know why it didn't happen. And I just red, Austin didn't even know what he was on about... Paul Heyman told the story in a interview that Austin raged at the creative team (As did CM Punk) about how he is being used, why isn't there new faces for him to wrestle in the main event scene, why VKM doesn't give him as much time as they used to, etc. so what happened Heyman said was the Creative Team for RAW sent out a revised email for the following weeks' RAW. They put out Brock Lesnar taking on Steve Austin. But when Austin arrived at the arena, he just left when he heard that. He didn't care about putting Lesnar over, he just was angry at the fact that the Creative Team just made this out of nowhere on a RAW where they had no comp, instead of putting it on a PPV with build-up. There was rumour that if Austin didn't leave, he was planned to face Eddie Guerrero in the next few months. At that time, it was said he was working with Eddie at house shows.

And like Shining, I just don't find the excitement in brawling around the ringside area for about 25 minutes all that satisfying.

In short? The AE sucked the life out of the WWE, and 19 was evidence of that.

Oh, and HHH/Jericho didn't even get any space on the official WM18 t-shirt. It was all about "ICON vs IMMORTAL!"
... like Mike, the WWE has never actually given a crap about how hard HHH has worked for them, and they've always been perfectly happy to bury everything he accomplishes behind someone or something else.

Rock/Austin at mania 19 was second last, lol Seriously? Shows how much I remember it. I would have laid down hard cash to bet that it was like the fourth match on the card.

Lol why are you always taking these Triple H jabs at me? I never acted like Triple H wasn't a hard worker or undeserving of some of his accolades. Just because I don't think that he's Lord Grapplos like you do doesn't mean that I hate the guy, lol. As for them not caring how hard he's worked for them I'm thinking that calling him "King of Kings", letting him main event several Wrestlemanias, giving him the major titles something like a dozen times, making him the inaugural World Heavyweight champion by literally handing him the belt, putting him on a thousand T-Shirts and making him an executive officer of the company suggests that they're at least somewhat aware of his efforts.

Just because I don't think that he's Lord Grapplos like you do doesn't mean that I hate the guy, lol. I don't think you hate the guy. I think that you, like the WWE, don't appreciate him. But I take jabs because taking jabs at you is what I do 8) How many Wrestlemanias has he legitimately been the Main Event for? And of those, how many did he lose? Total up the days of all of his title reigns and compare them to other workers. He's generally been little more than a transitional Champion. He's rarely been treated as "the guy"... he's the setup guy. He's the guy that's made to look strong so that he can put someone else Over. HHH's "dominance" is not reflected in his actual win/loss record, which pales in comparison to most guys of his stature. Him being the first WHC in the WWE was hardly an honor... it was done the way it was done for the specific reason of giving him heat, and it obviously worked... to this day a whole slew of fans sincerely believe that HHH was handed that belt because he somehow couldn't have earned it in actual matches, as if wrestling is real somehow. If you look at the list of guys who have held HHH's position in the past, I find it difficult to imagine how anyone could consider it a reward for being a hard-working, successful wrestler. Amongst his "accomplishments" that is the one I'm most inclined to believe is actually due to his marital status.

In WWE 2k14 on his stats it says he's main-evented like 7 Wrestlemanias and only won 1 lol. That obviously isn't true but it might as well be

He hasn't Main Evented 7. He may have had title matches at that many, but a lot of those were NOT legit Main Events. His match with Jericho at 18, for instance.

These stats ARE really messed up. Didn't Warrior beat Savage in their retirement match? It says Warrior has been in two Wrestlemanias and lost 1.

HHH Wrestlemania History... WM12: Squashed by Warrior WM13: Defeated Golddust (just being in a match with Golddust may be every bit as humiliating as being squashed by Warrior the year before...) WM14: Defeated Owen pretty much exactly the same way he defeated Golddust (Chyna distraction), but it was actually a decent match at least WM15: DQ'd because Chyna interfered, which was okay because the match with Kane was pretty bad up until that point WM2000: HHH wins Fatal Four Way to retain world title, legit Main Event for HHH #1 WM17: Lost to the Undertaker (decent match) WM18: Defeated Jericho (I feel it was a good match, most disagree apparently). Fake Main Event #1 for HHH WM19: Defeated Booker T in the infamous supposed "burial", not a Main Event by any stretch of the imagination, despite being for the WWE title WM20: Lost to Benoit, legit Main Event for HHH#2 WM21: Lost to Batista, legit Main Event for HHH#3 (terrible card that year...) WM22: Lost to Cena (tapping out for the SECOND TIME IN THREE YEARS). Legit Main Event #4 (another terrible card) WM24: Lost to Orton, WWE Title match but no Main Event WM25: Defeated Orton. Fake Main Event for HHH #2 WM26: Defeated Sheamus, no title on the line, no Main Event... WM 27 & 28: Lost to Undertaker, terrible matches. Legit Main Events #5 & 6 for HHH WM 29: Defeated Lesnar, no title, no Main Event (also a terrible match) WM30: Lost to Daniel Bryan, no title, no Main Event
So HHH's "record of dominance" at the Grandest Stage of them all? An astounding 8 and 11, with 4 Main Events and 2 fake main events.
By comparison, Stone Cold has worked 7 Wrestlemanias and Main Evented 4 of them. The Rock has worked 10 Wrestlemanias, and Main Evented 7...

So it sounds like Triple H's record at Wrestlemania could be described as "average".
