I loved the N64 but that controller was awful.

I think the N64 controller is worse than Sony design. I never had a too much problem with Sony's controller design besides after holding it for about an hour your hand begins to hurt(at least mine does) and the analogs are too close together. The big reasons why the 360 controller is so loved in because the analog don't touch and it feels natural to hold. The N64 controller sucked. The PS3 controllers have never really hurt my hands. The only time a controller has hurt my hand is the N64 controllers on mario party where you had to spin the analog stick for minutes at a time at rapid speed which eventually led to my hands having blisters. I wore gloves whenever I played Mario Party again.

The N64 controller was seriously messed up. I have no idea why it was like that... other than, once again, the Japanese have never actually seen a human hand. I could probably make a joke about the crappiness of anime art here, but I won't. 8) By definition, something that is ergonomic is designed to work in concert with the natural contours and movements of your body. The reason your hands hurt after holding the PS controller too long is because the PS controller is blocky and the analogs are placed poorly for you to actually use them. Just holding the controller for extended periods of time dramatically decreases the lifespan of the cartilage in your hands, and using the analog sticks is a great way to get carpal tunnel syndrome.

I like Sony and all, but Wildknight is right. The Sony PS controllers are terrible every which way. I personally have to use a controller with extended arms because having used the smaller controller for too long, I have already begun to show signs of early arthritis. That's pretty ridiculous for a 15 year old...

... yeah, say what you want. It's bias unless someone can show me how a controller that has been proven to actually damage your hands could be considered "better" by any logical means. Honestly you sound biased against Sony. Will the PS controller hurt your hands years down the road? Maybe, hell if I know. Does that mean people can't prefer using it? Absolutely not. The controller isn't painful to hold, maybe if you have big hands or hold the thing in a vice grip. I've been using PS since fairly early in the PS2 days, and I've made long gaming sessions on my PS2. Never once had I laid the controller down and went "fuck my hands hurt", never. As I said it's subjective. Some people do prefer Sony's design as it has it's uses (fighters) or have just become accustomed to it after years of gaming. While I'm use to it now, when I first got a 360 I thought the 360 controller felt big, heavy and awkward, not comfortable. I was just that accusomed to Sony's design by that point.

Honestly you sound biased against Sony. *eyeroll* Ridiculous statement is ridiculous. Pointing out facts is the opposite of bias. Sony controllers have been proven to be poorly shaped for human hands, and to specifically cause short term (cramping) and long term (carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritic symptoms) problems. That is not a "bias"... that is a fact. I had PS1 and PS2 for years before I ever touched an XBox controller. Bias IS ignoring the problems with the controller because you happen to like it "better." Personally, I don't believe for a second that anyone actually does prefer it. I think your emotional connection blinds you to the realities involved.

In which I'll gladly say, you're wrong. Not the facts part, which I never denied to begin with, but this part:

Seriously though, while I've never personally had a problem with any Playstation controller I've always felt that the Xbox controllers were noticeably superior. I've spent countless hours with the controllers of several dozen video game systems and I feel that the 360 design in particular is among the best of all time. It's just plain comfortable, owing to the natural and ergonomic design that Knight was describing above. While it's purely anecdotal, I've recently read some gaming media comparisons of the PS4 / XB1 and several PS4 supporters even acknowledged a preference for Microsoft's design.

Not gonna watch all that crap, but if they don't conclude that the Xbox controller is superior in every possible way to the Sony controller, then they've failed utterly. I agree

On a (somewhat) related note, I was looking around for various kinds of studies done on the "console wars" and found that not one but several Universities have conducted studies on which was the preferred console of "bros." One of them has a list of criteria for being a "bro" that I find so comical that I have to conclude the study was a joke.

I never argued the study, if it do cause long term effects then... sucks. What I do argue against is you trying to claim other peoples preferences is wrong. On a purely subjective view, not taking any studies into a account (as I didn't even know about them till now). I did prefer Sony's controller. Years ago I used to be into Nintendo, I loved my 64 and hardly even knew PS. Then I played a PS2 and thought the control was a world of difference for the better. Years later again I got a 360, but didn't have the same feeling for that controller as I had the PS2 over the 64. Like I said will it cause problems years down the road? I dunno, it apparently does which sucks. Does that change my preference for liking it? No, not really.

Why would I be mad, none of them apply to me. It's not as if I WANT to be a "bro" 8)
