One can never be disenchanted with Morgan Freeman. Yeah to be perfectly honest I don't know if I could ever dislike Morgan Freeman, barring some random trip into "deliberate douchebag" territory on his part that I don't expect to happen. He's one of those guys who I've liked for so long that it feels like most of my contemporaries have only just caught up, and so much the better. Wildknight is just experiencing selective hipsterism.

This might be the most amazing thing I've seen in weeks. Did......did anyone else catch the almost subconscious flash of the Unabomber just after the sketch of the leprechaun went off the screen? Also, I'm never...EVER, ever, ever, EVER, going to Alabama.

He's one of those guys who I've liked for so long that it feels like most of my contemporaries have only just caught up, and so much the better. First of all, he's not THAT good. He does the same $#@!ing thing in every movie he's ever in. But hey, let's pretend he's so amazing for the sake of argument. My point is that the "Morgan Freeman voice overs everything" garbage on the internet is so ubiquitous and completely un-funny. It has nothing to do with Freeman himself. It's not like he's doing these idiotic narrations for the opening of dog food cans and random skateboarder fail videos himself. It's other people who completely lack creativity using (usually bad) imitations of his voice that is the problem.

It does bug me that Freeman has, in general, like so many ironic or semi-ironic things before him, become needlessly embraced by the millennial generation and made into an ubiquitous and obnoxious meme. All I can say is that I can at least somewhat understand this one because I really do feel that the guy is just plain endearing.

In the current comics, Wolverine lost his healing factor... yet he still pops the claws regularly. Am I the only one who realizes how stupid that is?

Speaking of comics (and not to turn this thread into a discussion about them, maybe this can help you guys get the comic thread back on track if it's still all about agnosticism), you probably heard this but Bradley Cooper is apparently in talks with Marvel to play that Raccoon character you just showed me the other day.

He's not "in talks", he is the voice of Rocket Raccoon... which I don't get because Rocket is meant to have a thick accent (I think it's meant to be Australian, others usually say British). I'm sure Cooper can do a passable accent, but why not just hire someone who already has the accent, it's not like anyone is going to see his face. Eh, whatever.

LOL you might actually like Guardians when it comes out. It's a space fantasy thing, not so much a typical super hero comic (although Iron Man is on the team in the current comics, which I $#@!ing hate). The movie cast is Chris Pratt as Star Lord (the leader), Batista as the team's Designated Ass Kicker Drax the Destroyer, Zoe Saldana as the "most dangerous woman in the galaxy" & sole reasonably intelligent member of the team Gamora, Bradley Cooper (in the first role in his career where he can't rely on being adorable) as Rocket, and Vin Diesel as Groot (again, a CGI character who only communicates with the word "Groot!" so I'm not entirely certain why they went out and got a big name to "play" him...) It's got a pretty awesome supporting cast; Karen Gillan (not a fan but some people liked her in Dr. Who), Benicio Del Toro, Michael Rooker, John C. Reilly, Djimon Honsou, Glenn Close... wait, Glenn $#@!ing Close, really??? Also, Gregg Henry, who isn't exactly the most famous guy but I've really liked his work since Payback.

Yeah that's actually a pretty amazing cast.
I've tried to understand why I don't really get into most comic books - "superhero" types in particular- and I really never could come up with a distinct reason. Aside from how often the forum would get carried away about them I have no grudge against them, I recognize their importance in American culture and the fact that they can be just as good as well-written novels, yet I was never really able to conjure up more than polite approval whenever people shared their enthusiasm for them. Had some as a kid, just couldn't really care. Even as I read my beloved Groo Spider-Man made countless appearances and kept warning me not to get molested by strangers, yet I was never inspired to check him out. Then again that's probably because he just kept warning me not to get molested by strangers.
It's weird, with few exceptions I find comics about as interesting as geography. Can't explain it, it just is what it is. The passion is either there or not I suppose.
