I... really think that you're confusing "a list of things that at some point some writer has attributed to Sunspot" with "a list of powers that Sunspot actually has and uses." It's a common thing with comic book fans 8) Power wise he has a super ton of potential to be in the top 3 most powerful mutants. Not really. He has a big list of crap that different writers have tried to put off as "extensions of his abilities", most of which are nothing but plot convenience and are never seen again. Contrary-wise, Bobby Drake, whom you blow off, has the ability to control the specific movement of molecules, and actually has been told on several occasions that he IS Omega-Level, the only thing holding him back is himself. ... of course being an Omega-Level mutant is really kind of meaningless these days anyway. M is Omega-Level and she was relegated to secondary teams and regularly gets her ass kicked by villains that real X-Men scoff at.

His power manifests as ice because he's too limited mentally to grasp what he's really doing. He has the ability to slow down or speed up the movement of individual molecules. In anyone or anything. That goes a lot further than just "making ice."

He stands out so far above and beyond all other X-characters that to put anyone else on the list would be an insult. Cyclops, bro, Cyclops.

How is iceman not a one note character? ... because he has shown tons of character development over the years? Because he has very complex relationships with other characters in the storyline? Because he's outwardly a smartalecky guy but he's secretly a ball of insecurity and awkwardness? That reminds me of me. btw, What do you think of MY list(s)?

I've always found Angel very boring and one-note, Mystique even moreso. Most of those characters are alright... th eonly ones I'd say I'm particularly fond of are Nightcrawler, Gambit, and Magneto, and Magneto really fell off for me when they turned him good (again). Nightcrawler would have been on my list except for the fact that the writing on him varies far too much. I really really like the contemplative, priestly Nightcrawler... not so much the conflicted pseudo-jerk version.

Wolverine, Cable, Bishop, Mystique, and Deadpool.
Now that I've effectively caused WildKnight to put an axe through his computer, let's get serious.
Wolverine before he became "Wolverine", the mystery is really what made the character and what accentuated his brusque, brooding personality. nowadays he's just 5'2" of unwanted baggage and punkassery.
Nightcrawler, his appearance was so cool to me and he was kind of Wolverine's buddy at the time of the Claremont/Byrne era, so those two were my immediate favorites and have stuck with me.
Cyclops, of the original five members of the X-Men, I really only like two of them. Scott is one of them, despite some bad characterizations in both alternate media and comics alike, he has remained a favorite of mine throughout all the turbulence, and nowadays he's better than he's ever been.
Gambit, just when we thought the X-Men couldn't get any cooler, they introduced Gambit. Just an all around fun character to me.
I'd put Ice-Man on this list, but he friggin' sucks. Don't listen to WildKnight kiddies, he can market pig feces like chocolate from heaven.

I've never been particularly enthralled with Cable, he just strikes me as a 90's leftover. Although, like Bishop, I'm not too knowledgeable on the characters to form a concrete opinion.

Cable kind of IS a 90's throwback... and that's really what makes him awesome.
... I am curious though. You're bothered by Cable and Bishop's "90's-ness"... but you list Gambit as a favorite? Those guys are no more "90's" than Gambit. I mean, for pete's sake, the dude runs around in a battered overcoat and wears the stupid "open faced cowl" that could ONLY have seemed like a good idea in the 1990's LOL

Bishop doesn't bother me in the least, I simply haven't read up on him enough to fully understand the character, or his powers for that matter.
Cable was cool, just not cool enough to warrant my attention on a regular basis.
Explosive cards and trenchcoats on the other hand? Sign me up, baby.

I can see that, they're very different characters. Personally I hate Cable's powers. He's the most entertaining to me when his powers don't work LOL
Cable & X-Force is a great comic though. Mostly because of Dr. Nemesis and Forge though.

There's a funny issue of Gambit where he's arguing with this female thief that he has the hots for, and she keeps making fun of the fact that he wears a mask that doesn't even disguise his face.
