These goobs are playing AD&D 1st Edition (which was released before most of you were born), but it still captures the experience pretty well. The documentary is pretty old, and hearkens back to a time (my early days with D&D) where only hardcore dorks and geeks played. That's not really the case anymore, people from all walks of life are gamers nowadays... but it's still a great haven for young people finding their place in life, and a way that I've made lifelong friends and found acceptance despite my peculiarities.
If it seems like I'm advertising for table top RPG participation; that's because I am. It's an amazing hobby, and I hope that you guys will at least give it a try at some point in your lives.

This one is a little bit more contemporary. It's less of a documentary and aimed less at informing and more at entertaining, but still, great stuff.

My cousins boyfriend wanted to get me into D&D a few months ago but unfortunately they broke up before he had a chance to show me how to play. I'd still like to try it out. Seems like something I'd really enjoy.

What are the rules on being a catgirl in D&D? Well depends on the version and your DM. But as of DND Next I don't believe cat girls are an official race. |

What are the rules on being a catgirl in D&D? There's a rule for that. It's called the Brian Sucks rule. I can't quote the exact text but it reads a little something like this "absolutely no anime BS ever." ... that might be a house rule that I invented. |

Once D&D 5 is officially out in July, I'll try to get something going on Roll20 and we can have something semi-live. The basic rules will be (legally) free in a limited form.
... if we can get together on a schedule that works for enough players, that is.

We've pre-ordered D&D 5 at home, WK. If you fancy some roll20 campaigns then the girlfriend and I will be up for it.
We were planning on me learning the ropes to DM in our group of friends at home as well.

The free version of the new edition of D&D dropped today Linkage: www.wizards.com/dnd/Article.aspx?x=dnd/basicrulesIt's going to be updated in August with information on treasure and monsters, apparently. The full version of the rules will feature more character creation options, but this is enough to give a basic understanding of the rules. |
