I'm unamused by the whole "Cena buries people" thing. It's occasionally true, but not in the way that most people think, so I prefer to avoid the whole thing Round of applause to this man. Everybody join in. Also, doesn't everybody bury somebody if they ever make it even remotely big, lol? ... yes. But Cena does it in a way most guys in his position don't. He verbally buries guys in promos. Most guys know that when you're facing off against an opponent (say, Bray Wyatt), it's best not to laugh at Bray Wyatt and make his gimmick seem pointless and stupid because if Bray Wyatt isn't scary, then who cares if Cena beats him or not? Jericho actually talks a bit about this in his (first) book. I don't see most guys, particularly babyfaces, doing this sort of thing. Cena strikes me as very limited intellectually and often verbally clumsy. I don't think he does these things on purpose... I just think he doesn't know how to appear as if he legitimately considers an opponent to be a threat. |

Well, maybe it's just me, but I hated Bray's gimmick so much that I connect with him, lol. I'm hardly a Bray Wyatt fan... but from a business perspective, it's not good to make guys the company wants to push seem inconsequential. Imagine if Hogan had laughed off Andre the Giant's size and 15 year undefeated streak. It just doesn't work. |
