... but my argument was never that the game would be better if only they focused solely on current talent. I repeatedly talked about how they should focus on the current product. John Cena may be a current guy, but what he did 10 years ago or even two years ago says nothing about the current product. Your argument may never have been that the mode should have purely focused on current talent, but your rants always consisted of complaints that the developers were catering exclusively to the nostalgia crowd. To an extent that was true- all of the matches took place in the past- but I had always tried to argue that just because the mode didn't feature new storylines featuring the modern roster it didn't mean that the latter was getting the short shrift. Regardless, I have no idea why anyone would even suggest such a mode for John Cena. It makes no sense. His biggest matches were already featured in last year's game, and I fail to see how it's really special to wrap a storyline around his feuds with people like Randy Orton or Triple H. These three have been in every WWE game for the last decade. They're perennials. There's no hook in focusing on rivalries like this. The intended appeal of the last two games, successful or not, was to allow the player to recreate and relive matches that they weren't able to before because wrestler X had never been in a Smackdown game and the series had never taken the time to explore the past to such a great extent. We've done that twice now, and we've done it by covering decades of matches with dozens of different wrestlers at venues stretching across the entire spectrum of Wrestlemania's history. How could they reasonably expect fans to go backwards? To be happy with a mode that focuses on one person (who the majority of the fans hate, and who already featured prominently in the last retro mode)? And logistically, what are they going to do? His big feuds are, what, Taker, Orton, Triple H, and Batista, right? Already been there, done that. Anyone else he's ever beaten is either dead (Umaga) or has already been on the roster for years and not much of a special attraction. |

Since I've been out of the loop, I've only really seen the Cena "trailer". You're telling me there's already been a playtest for 2K15 and furthermore our own Mike went to it? No, whenever I refer to the playtest I'm talking about the one that I went to last year, for 2K14. My understanding is that there wasn't a playtest at all (or anything similar to it) this year. You said, "When did I ever say that it wasn't a nostalgia mode? " and I quoted you where you said it wouldn't be. Oh, okay. I know you were just joking, but I think you really stretched the context there.  |

Maybe we'll get a "Back and White" era mode, with Buddy Rodgers and Bobo Brazil and so on. It's the only logical conclusion. I would avoid that game like it got AIDS |

I've seen enough World Of Sport wrestling to know that old fashioned grappling would likely not be fun to play in a videogame. |

Ah okay doke, thanks. I knew about you going to last years then. I'd think there'd be a playtest again this year though, closer to the Summerslam. No one's sure. All of the other playtesters that I spoke with (and to be fair it's been a while since they're all addicted to facebook and I most certainly am not) sounded pretty convinced that nothing major is going on this time, except maybe for an actual gaming press event here or there which would include only a few of them. If there IS any kind of playtest opportunity coming up, it's already two months later than last year's and no one is confident that it's going to happen at all. |

The last good WCW game that I remember playing was simply "World Championship Wrestling" on the NES in like 1990. |

Truth I don't know much about WCW, but I've seen the Arquette trilogy umpteen times through OSWreviews videos on it and from being on /wooo/'s video synch when they had them on. Are there enough big WCW names they could get from the 80s and early 90s that would work?
