Please tell me this isn't someone attempting to claim that Predators didn't suck. That movie was so bad that it made Terminator: Salvation more interesting by comparison. ... speaking of Danny Trejo.. . also on Sons of Anarchy (I don't really get the fascination with the guy. Other than his silent character in El Mariachi, he's never impressed me in any way. I don't dislike him either... I just don't see anything special. He's certainly not a versatile actor.) I actually haven't seen the newest predator movie yet.

Maybe I didn't like the new Predators because it lacked a memorable quote... you know, like the 50 that came about in the first movie.

I understand that Danny Trejo is an incredibly warm and friendly human being, and people love to work with him. I'm not bagging on him as a person... I fully believe all of the reports that he's one heck of a nice guy. I just don't see how he's gotten to his cult-like status. Luckily he does mostly seem to stick to roles where his deadpan delivery and badass looks work for him. I hate when some incredibly limited actor decides to "stretch" and ends up ruining a perfectly good movie. Like, y'know.. Adrien Brody in Predators *eyeroll* Just... watch Salvation, that's all I can say. Not only does it basically crap all over nearly every element of the continuity established in the previous movies (which, I guess, is okay because T3 created some kind of temporal paradox???). It's just... it's a terrible film. You just have to watch it. And no, this isn't just one of my nerd things... I LOVED T2, despite the obvious paradox of the entire plot. Salvation just completely lacked any of the elements that made Terminator work as a concept. I actually disliked it much more than even T3 Can't say why Trejo gets so much love. For me, I just think that he's an enjoyable screen presence. I first saw him in Heat, was entertained by his brief role in The Devil's Rejects, and have seen him pop up here and there in other things that I liked. He did a recurring voice in King of the Hill which I'm also a fan of, and what I saw of Machete made him seem like an entertaining comedic actor as well. In general I just plain like the guy, so I suppose a lot of other people are having similar reactions now that he's become a mainstream player. I really wish I understood what was wrong with Salvation but I guess I really will just have to watch it sometime. I think the original Terminator was great and T2 is one of the best movies I've ever seen, and I didn't even hate T3 (it was clearly inferior but I found it to be a solid action movie with a couple of interesting ideas and a neat ending). Yet everyone across the board seems to agree that Salvation fucked everything up, which is why I've been reluctant to give it a chance. I actually liked Adrien Brody in Predators.

On a side note, I don't like the Alien movies. But I quite like both Predator and Alien VS Predator movies. You don't like any of the Alien movies but you do like the Alien v Predator films? I guess one explains the other. And this is nonetheless very, very bad.

I actually liked Adrien Brody in Predators. There is something seriously wrong with you. He was terrible in that movie. It was some of the worst casting since... well all of the casting in the Star Wars prequels.

Qui-Gon Jin was tolerable... ... Liam Neeson is a great actor, as is Ewan McGregor... but the entire first movie was so hindered by terrible dialogue and sequences where the actors were talking to blank spots on walls when they filmed the scenes that even they couldn't really turn in decent performances. IMO, the only moment where you see even a glimpse of the true talents of either man is the interaction between the two of them and Jar Jar in the swamp on Naboo (the one with the "that is the sound of a million bad things" line in it). Everything else was bad. The prequels actually had several people who either are capable actors, or are at least actors who are typically well-received by critics, and almost nobody turned in a decent performance in any of the 3 movies.

I find Danny Trejo highly amusing. While it's true that he's never going to play anyone other than a thug, criminal, or man of some violence (with a face like that, it's inevitable) he seems like an endearing guy. And yeah, I had a great time watching Predators. Now this is the second time I'm going to ask someone what the hell is wrong with Terminator Salvation because the universal apathy that is thrown at that movie has kept me away from it for several years and I'd love to know what terrible atrocities I'm missing. Sam worthinton just terrible. His stupid accent always breaking through. I would be incredibly happy if he never made a movie again

I do agree that Adrien Brody was miscast in Predators. He didn't seem like the right guy for the role at all. Maybe that's why some people didn't like it, I don't know. I enjoyed him in it though, he served the movie just fine for me. Almost everything about Phantom Menace sucked rugged balls but I've often said that Liam Neeson (who is a favorite of mine) lent the movie whatever tiny shred of dignity it had. Love 1. A guide to recognizing your saints 2. A Clockwork Orange 3. Taxi Driver 4. Bronson 5. Fight Club 6. Gangs of New York 7. American History x 8. Mall rats 9. Terminator 2 10. I've managed to avoid all of your favorites with the exception of Transformers, which I hated, and War of the Worlds, which I enjoyed. I'm no fan of Matthew Mcconaughey (again, sp?) but I liked U-571, Frailty, and heard that "Mud" was quite good.

Mcconaughey has been unbearable since 2003 that's why I added the timeframe. I vaugily remember frailty. I remember the plot it's been awhile since I saw it. Since 2012 MM has been great mud highly acclaimed Dallas buys club looks awesome and I can't wait for wolf of Wall Street. Not to mention he's got a hbo detective show he's doing with woody harrelson which is just awesome.

I don't get why people want to insist that Liam Neeson performed well in TPM. Even HE hated his performance in the movie, was very vocal about the fact, and refused to do any new work for the 3rd movie because of it 8)

I do agree that Adrien Brody was miscast in Predators. I didn't say he was miscast, although he was. I said he was $#@!ing terrible, and he was. I don't care how many pounds of muscle mass he put on for the role, he was still the scrawny emo dork he's always been, and in no way, shape, or form came across as the character he was supposed to be. Watching Woody Allen play badass for 2 hours is, yeah, a little $#@!ing off-putting, to say the least. For some reason the entire franchise is littered with some of the crappiest casting I can imagine, from... well, everyone in T3 to Sanaa Lathan in AvP, it's like a neverending cavalcade of bad choices, ever since it became "cool" to be part of a TvAvP Universe movie.

Huh? You said that it was bad casting. I agreed (for the same reasons you listed) but I enjoyed his performance all the same.
Where did you hear all that stuff about Liam Neeson hating his Star Wars work? My understanding is that he was scheduled for a brief appearance in Sith but wasn't able to commit because he got into an accident. He went on to do voice work for the Clone Wars series. And I very much enjoyed him in TPM, his performance was one of class and restraint (pretty much the only aspect of the entire film to show either).
J, I haven't seen Bronson or Saints.
