... yeah I guess I just don't care. Shipping a genetically modified super soldier/borderline humanoid robot with his holographic sidekick sounds like everything I'd expect from fandom though.

As with all FPS games, terribad. I enjoy FPS games, Age of Empires II is a good time. There's also a relatively unknown game called "Medieval Conquest" that I find really addicting. So long as you know what you're playing for, then why not. Halo had a servicable story with some limited twists and turns. I remember nothing of the story other than "Hey dude, go kill those uninspired chicken aliens. ZOMIGERD, DE FLOOD! WEZ SO f***ED NAO! Blow more stuff up and s***." You are talking about RTS games there, son. Age of Empires 2 isn't an FPS...

Nobody denies that Halo has A plot... it's just that, as Riggs and Murtaugh once discussed, it's very thin.

I think that's one of my issues with the game- it's worshiped despite the fact that it does seem like nothing more than fan fiction. "WHAT IF, LIKE, THERE'S THIS SUPER SOLDIER WHO GETS SENT TO XEXLORG P5G TO WIPE OUT THE CHICKEN ALIENS WITH HIS HOLOGRAPHIC CORTEX BABE AND THERE'S A SECRET SPECIES ON THE PLANET THAT WANTS TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!!!" No. I enjoy FPS games, Age of Empires II is a good time. There's also a relatively unknown game called "Medieval Conquest" that I find really addicting. Just Halo and Half Life. I enjoy FPS games, Age of Empires II is a good time. There's also a relatively unknown game called "Medieval Conquest" that I find really addicting. Yep thats the gist of it. It really wasn't all that amazing, but playing it I guess excused things for what it was. I had a ton of fun in that game. but more so in the versus mode playing against my friends. I currently own 1, 4, and Halo Wars.

Several of the CoD games are fantastic (2 and MW2 are standouts to me). Rainbow Six looks good to me, I like squad-based shooters. Never played it though so I can't vouch. Yep thats the gist of it. The plot is crap, the weapons and gameplay are nothing amazing, but it was the first console shooter to let a bunch of people play together. For that reason alone (and despite the fact that Doom and other PC games had been doing this for years), everyone immediately proclaimed Halo to be the best item ever conceived by the hands of man. Dig up the old 2001 EGM review that was two pages long, made sure the readers saw that they linked a dozen Xboxes together to have a Halo party, and I think showed pictures of the reviewers screaming with exuberance (and probably masturbating) into the camera.

Well Yes thats why COD and Battlefield are things. People enjoy playing with one another against another. Something that allows for some sort of competition. I'm not saying its the holy grail of games. Although 4 added weekly multiplayer campaigns. They were pretty generic but fun to play with friends. it's big business and people buy those games up like crack. I don't personally see the point in buying all of them. Cod, Battlefield, etc they all have their place but I don't get why you'd want to own each iteration of all of those games.

I've played Call Of Duty: Black Ops, Half-Life 2, Serious Sam, Halo: Reach, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and Fallout New Vegas.
Halo: Reach is legitimately the only one I didn't enjoy.

To be fair, "an extended series of fetchquests", IMO, describes almost every popular console/PC rpg of the past 20+ years 8) Even DA Origins? Oh wait... Main Quests: Fetch magical ashes Fetch magical potion Fetch magical cure and kill werewolves Fetch magical Anvil for Dwarf king Kill Archdemon I'm not even going to go into detail about the companion quests and side quests, which are also filled with many "Go fetch blah blah blah" quests.

A lot of those don't actually qualify under the typical understanding of what a "fetchquest" is. Yes, they are quests in which you re retrieving something, but not really "fetchquests" in the traditional sense.

So would DA:O fall under that description or not? Not IMO, though I suppose one could make the argument. At least every single one of the fetch quests in DA:O has quite a bit of depth to it. I really find it hilarious when huge fans of Skyrim and Fallout and other RPGs hate on DA:O for having a "Crappy generic story." I usually just laugh them off and tell them to go ahead and play Final Fantasy 7.(That was an insult to FF7 by the way)

DA:O's story wasn't all that special in and of itself. It was the details that made it awesome.
"Lost/bastard prince rises from obscurity to become King" meh
"Lost/bastard prince is inept, dim-witted, $#!ing hilarious, has an incredibly deep emotional story not related to being the lost/bastard prince, and isn't actually the primary protagonist of the story" Epic.

That's kind of what I meant. The story is quite generic on the surface, but the way they flesh out each story is absolutely incredible. Every character feels incredibly special and is quite 3 dimensional... Suddenly DA2 comes around and every character in your party is 2D and has an instant crush on you and tries to hit on you constantly(Excluding family and Varric).

The only character in your party with any depth is whatsisface the terrorist mage... and he's a whiney douchebag terrorist, so... no winners.

He's also the guy that hits on you and traps you into having sex with him if you end up getting too far into his personal story. Luckily I dodged it, by being a D-Bag. Sure I lost 20 influence points with him, but it saved me the trouble of having to watch a gay sex scene...
