I need to find a good quote from All Quiet on The Western Front to make my sig... "We have lost all feeling for one another. We can hardly control ourselves when our hunted glance lights on the form of some other man. We are insensible, dead men, who through some trick, some dreadful magic, are still able to run and to kill." Taken out of context and applied to humanity as a whole it is still a pretty good quote.

That is just too perfect to apply to humanity today. "We can hardly control ourselves when our hunted glance lights on the form of some other man"

Given that it was written as a commentary on humanity as a whole in the first place...

How good is The Jungle by Upton Sinclair? Depends on how you feel about political treatises from a long time ago

Since this seems like the best place to address Wild's signature quote, I suppose I'll do it here.
Being childish isn't within itself childish, but avoiding childishness is childish? I hope that is true. I've been wanting to go back to childish things for a while now. These days, I can't watch an episode of SpongeBob without feeling embarrassed or ridiculous.

All I can say is that you get over that LOL I went through the same phase where I wanted to be "cool" or "mature" or whatever. I just don't care anymore. I enjoy the stuff that I enjoy, and I talk about it all the time. A big part of that is that most of my friends are also geeks, so if I'm out in public letting my geek flag fly, I'm in good company. In a couple of years you should attend GenCon (you're one of the guys in Indiana, right?). You'll feel so loved and accepted it'll blow your mind.

Gaming convention (of the tabletop sort, not the video sort). Also has an anime filmfest and a bunch of other stuff. Basically a huge geek gathering. When I'm there, I literally feel more energized and alert than at any other time than when I'm with my congregation at church... I'm there with "my people." You're one of my people, so I can only assume you'd feel the same 8) I keep trying to convince Mike to come, but he's a punk bitch. (I can't go the next two years probably anyway)

I still like to be amongst people who "get me." To me, the cool geeks aren't the problem... it's the "everything has to be positive all of the time!" crowd that have invaded everything.

Well, not positivity in terms of big pictures. I just mean, not being depressed 90% of the time. Being happy for the little things in your own little life. Now, as far as the world itself goes, yeah you have to brain-dead to not be negative about that.

Anything that occupies my time is satisfactory to me.

So far I've read The Beast in the Cave, The Alchemist, The Other Gods, The Call of Cthulhu, The Dunwich Horror, and The Colour Out of Space. Right now I'm reading At the Mountains of Madness.
EDIT: I also read History of the Necronomicon.

For Advanced Placement English 11, I must read The Grapes of Wrath over the Summer. Sounds fun!
