I just started watching this show. I really enjoy it a great cast who play off each other well. I'm on season 2 already.

Sons of Anarchy is a very good show, very Shakespearian. If you'd asked me before I started watching I would have said it looked incredibly stupid, but I started watching out of boredom, and am very impressed.
Another, similar show (that has TONS of the same actors in it) is The Shield. Somebody tried to get me to start watching it years ago, and I passed, but now that I have Amazon Prime and know I can get ALL of a series, I'm more prone to check things out. The Shield isn't as good as Sons of Anarchy, but it is pretty entertaining. I'm not on Season 5 and it's super intense every episode... as they ratchet up the tension on Vic, I'm always thinking "holy crap there are two more seasons of this."
What The Shield thankfully doesn't do that is unfortunately all too common on Sons, is the "end of episode drama spike." Sons of Anarchy has a strong tendency to put the accelerator all the way down at the very end of an episode, creating the appearance of some kind of major crisis... and then have it resolved with minimal fuss or sometimes even off-screen at the beginning of the next episode. While the tactic suits the admittedly brilliant pacing of the show very well, it also over time starts to wear down your ability to get interested in the various crises that pop up.

How far are you into the show wk? I just finished season 2 last night I've watched all the way through Season 5. Season 6 just ended, but I won't watch it until Amazon Prime gets it for free 8 The Shield was actually worked on by Kurt Sutter, the guy who created and runs Sons of Anarchy, which explains the similarity in narrative style and the number of actors that appear in both. I'm not a huge Michael Chiklis fan either, but Vic Mackey is the role he was born to play

It's not just that Opie is gone; the show took a sharp turn in theme. Before taking over the club, Jax claimed to be all about taking care of his family and reforming the club... as he tried to save the club from Clay, he was forced to compromise his morals repeatedly, until he became just as bad if not worse than Clay ever was. Opie was his last anchor to the sincere human being he started out as. Season 5 was very dark, even by the standards of an already dark show.

I love the costume direction for the show. Did you notice how Tara clothing is getting darker and darker every season and in season 5 jax would wear the black sweatshirt under his vest representing the darker path he turned onto. Also they keep a hint of the white shirt to tell you that the old jax is still there. Remember how he use just wear the white?
