And as a result it also won a Guinness World Record for being the highest-rated television season of all time.

Every now and then a show comes along that's written, acted and filmed with such consistent high quality that I guess the critics actually take notice and respond accordingly. Then again it seems like a lot of those same critics went fap-happy over Mad Men, and that looked like one of the most boring shows I could possibly imagine. I think that if I even tried to watch it I'd just be angry that Chrstina Hendricks isn't naked.

I don't know, the concept (and acting, and general atmosphere) strikes me as pretentious. Somehow reminds me of Nip / Tuck, another one that seemed to be a beloved critical darling about a bunch of smarmy douchebags being smarmy douchebags.

Also, just wondering, is the "widely considered best episode of the series" the Ozymandias one, Mike?

Sounds like a boring, douchey show. i watched 4 seasons hoping something would happen..nothing ever did.. Sounds about how I expected. My cyni-sniffer triumphs again! Also, just wondering, is the "widely considered best episode of the series" the Ozymandias one, Mike? It is. Vince Gilligan singled it out as the best episode of the series, a sentiment echoed by the vast majority of the reviews and wrap-ups that I've read. On IMDB it's the only episode of the show that has a perfect 10 rating out of something like 50,000 user votes. I don't know if it's my own personal favorite (I'm still very partial to "And the Bag's in the River") but Ozymandias is right up there. It's an exhaustingly amazing episode, perfect from start to finish, and the polar opposite of that same director's episode "Fly". Hopefully you haven't looked up spoilers for the episode, it's extremely pivotal. You need to wait to get to it naturally.

I now know that Mike and Hank are going to die at some point... Also I was asking about the Ozymandias episode because I heard about it a few months ago. The only reason I heard about it was because we had just read the poem/short story/whatever it was in class.

Well I can make a few wild guesses as to what happens in that episode based on the poem it's named after...

"Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair".
Again, I'm saying nothing. And you shouldn't think too much about it. Just keep watching.

Fly was the best episode.. I liked it a lot. It's slow, and apparently a lot of people found it boring, but I found it entertaining. *Shrug* I would even go so far as to say that it's one of the stand outs.
