Yes it did. It originated with the African Americans, and then Elvis saw them and adapted the style a bit and became a national sensation because white people had never heard such amazing music come out of a white guy before. I might be wrong in a few ways here so Wild should come and correct me... To be fair to us white-ies, Africa also introduced rap, which is just mislabeled poetry. Try listing music that originated with white people. They all suck...

Wrong, that was Mediterranean. (Also it doesn't suck) Country music originated with white people though.

If you want to be less technical, then you're correct, but I can almost guarantee that the music you call "country" isn't even close to the original "country" music.

Sorry but Country originated 30 years before rock. It gained popularity still 10 years before rock did. Rock was actually partially based on country.

If you're talking about red necks farming without their big trucks with their fantasy chicks in the passenger seat, believe it or not, that's originated off from rock music, not even earlier country music.

I need to reword the above before I get hated on for saying it with the wrong wording.

1. Country music originated in the 40's.
2. Rock music originated from (depending on whom you ask, and what they're philosophy on the subject is) Blues, R&B, or Boogie Woogie (the one I believe to be the originator), not country. Along with the same philosophy that I'm going, Rock started in the 30's, as a mixture of Blues music. The rock music was there in the 30's, just with the official tag of "Blues" music. Here's a blues song from the 30's.
Boogie Woogie kind of spun off into one genre of music, Blues. But, what they called blues back then is different than ours
Blues back then was basically two genres mixed in one, Rock n' roll and Blues.
Of course, no matter what your beliefs, this is all philosophy, and it's really a matter of opinion if you ask me.

Country originated in the 20s Bane. It wasn't called country till the 40s. Also you seem to think a genre is entirely defined by lyrics. Well it isn't...

Well, actually, country probably originated way before the 20's, just it can't be discovered when since there's no real proof otherwise, but that's not the point I was making. Country music didn't start getting popular in any way until the 40's. Rock was around way before that, but it didn't get popular until the 40's (or 30's if you believe what I do). Also, never had I said that lyrics defined a genre. There is quite a bit of difference between this: and this though If one puts those two songs in the same genre, they're either deaf, or delusional.

The most overrated musician of all time? EASILY a tie between Elvis and the Beatles, both of whom did nothing but follow what others were doing, do it without any particular excellence, and make women swoon. All five of them can suck it.

I love the Beatles' music. Doesn't mean that I don't realize that they're not great musicians (for the most part anyways) and that they're not the most vocally talented people. They are definitely overrated.
That being said, some of their songs have great lyrics. Some of them have poor lyrics. I like all of their music though.

The only Beatles music that didn't suck was the early pop rock stuff. Once they decided they mattered and had lessons to teach us, they became an even bigger joke than the bubble gum rock boy band that they started as.

*Shrugs* My favorite musician is Ozzy Osbourne, maybe I just have terrible taste in music. *Shrugs* My favorite musician is Ozzy Osbourne, maybe I just have terrible taste in music. If Ozzy is your favorite, you do like terrible music. Not that Ozzy's bad, but he's definitely not great.....extremely overrated.... Most overrated musician is Hendrix or Elvis though (or at least what comes to mind right now) I really like Ozzy. Hendrix is fantastic. Elvis can soak in my sausage sweat.

In the last several years, I've utterly lost my appreciation for Ozzy. I don't think there are more than 2 or 3 Ozzy songs I'd even bother to stop turning the radio dial for anymore. The musical quality just isn't there. I used to be a huge fan, but I'm honestly insulted that the old turd won't stop making albums. He hasn't put out a new song that wasn't utterly crap in years... and the song "No More Tears" needs to go away and never ever be played again anywhwere.
