What are your thoughts on video gaming as a whole throughout 2013? How would you rank 2013 up with other years? What were your favorite video gaming moments from this year?

I thought it was a pretty good year, with my favorite game from this year being Ni No Kuni.

GTA V, State of Decay, and my favorite WWE game in several years made this one of the best falls of gaming for me. The Last of Us, Bioshock 2, and AC4 were also supposed to be great though I haven't played any of them. I'd say that 2013 was a pretty great year for games.

I believe 2013 was a redeeming year in the gaming industry after the major slumps of 09-12.

Every year has great games, but I'm proud to award The Last of Us with a very special award; Game I was So Sick of Hearing About Before It Even Came Out That I Will Never Ever Play It No Matter What.
$#@! TLOU and it's legions of drooling fans. It's a zombie game, and an uninspired one at that. Get over yourselves.

Not sure how I forgot that, I've spent probably hundreds of hours playing that. I don't understand its appeal either, but I definitely wouldn't get mad at its fans just for being excited.

I don't understand its appeal either, but I definitely wouldn't get mad at its fans just for being excited. I was sick of hearing about GTA when it was all anyone was talking about a few weeks before it's release. TLOU was getting called a GOTY candidate over a year before it's release. Something that's obnoxious for a few weeks becomes REALLY obnoxious over the course of several months.. and now that I've seen the game in action, it's pretty obvious that the excitement was based on nothing whatsoever, so yes... I think it's perfectly viable to hold the fans responsible for the ridiculous jabbering about that game when it probably wasn't even out of development.

*Shrug*
I just plain don't get the idea of hating games for their fanbases. I hate COD's fanbase, but I don't hate COD itself.

*Shrug* I just plain don't get the idea of hating games for their fanbases. I hate COD's fanbase, but I don't hate COD itself. It's entirely reasonable to be turned off by something due to it's fanbase being annoying, and I can't imagine how you would feel otherwise. Regardless, I'm talking about two separate things; The game itself looks like an underwhelming, uninspired zombie adventure that didn't even have the balls to put a human face on the zombie infestation. I don't need the obnoxiousness of the fans to dislike the game, just as even if the game were good, it wouldn't justify the obnoxiousness of the fans.
