Keep up? Dude by every standard, Aces & Eights has been a complete failure. There's nothing to keep up with. Aside from the broad concept of a new faction showing up and blindsiding people, there's virtually no similarity in concept or delivery between The Shield and Aces & Eights. Aces & Eights is in the vein of the nWo, large an organization that existed to get the belt for, and keep the belt on, it's central figure. The Shield is a self-serving gaggle of young guys trying to make an impact while defending their bad behavior with a claim of righting wrongs, ala The Nexus. You're right, I don't know, but after the debut of both teams, for some reason, I thought that they had some sort of connection. I don't even know, but you're right about them not having any similarities.

I have to address the notion that Hogan abandoned a sinking ship though, because it's utter BS. Hogan was FIRED because he was putting more holes in the ship all the while telling everyone that he was patching the hull. Hogan would never have left TNA. He's beyond desperate for money at this point in his life. TNA didn't fire him actually, They chose not to renew his contract & The fact that he worked up until the end of the contract he had reached it's end means he wasn't fired in the slightest. Bitch-Off on the other hand, Was told he wasn't needed and wouldn't have his contract renewed and sent home for the final 2-3 months (something like that) of his contract.

Polish the turd all you want. He was absolutely fired. If TNA wanted him back, he would have signed that contract faster than most of his pathetic title matches.

Just as Styles' release, I think money was the key issue, not having much, TNA offered Hogan a set amount that was lower than his normal deal & he just said that he wouldn't do it unless he made the same or more than he was already making. Hogan, in my opinion, is just a selfish douchebag that won't even return to WWE if he is not offered the same or more than he was making in TNA.

The writing for Hogan was on the wall the minute Brooke was released. If you can't save your daughter that means your pull isn't that great any longer.

... TNA didn't offer Hogan ANYTHING. That's why I said he was fired. Hogan wanted to come back, TNA said "no thanks, hit the bricks, don't let the door hit you on your busted old hip on the way out." TNA wanted Hogan gone months before he left, but if they fired him outright, his contract specified that they still had to pay him.

It really sucks for the talent as most, if any, will not be picked up by WWE. I remember some conference thing where Triple H said that there was no one in TNA that WWE wanted or needed. Although, I can see Sting possibly being offered a Legend's contract, maybe Aries & Styles & a few select others, but other than that it's the independents for them.

Gen. Skandor Akbar...i grew up on UWF and WCCW... Yeah that's way out of my wheel house. I know about it, but only from studying history, not from seeing it first hand. i stuck around long after the collapse of WCCW all the way to the GWF days, with Scotty The Body (Raven), Lightening Kid (X-Pac), Harlem Heat. GWF doesn't get the credit it deserves for giving major talent it's start..

ROH isn't going down anytime soon. If anything, it might be turned into another developmental company for WWE, what with so much of WWE's talent originating from ROH.

More and more, WWE is pushing for guys to get into NXT very early on in their careers or not at all, so that they can have them TV ready by their late 20's. Meanwhile, RoH is in all kinds of financial trouble, and I don't see another bailout coming their way any time soon. You only get so many opportunities to wildly mismanage money before people stop giving you any.

There is only so much room in Japan, and that place was crowded to begin with.
