Because they're competing with Rocket Raccoon for most huggable hero.
'Course, hugging Rocket will be the last thing you ever do.

I'm confused as to why this is even a thing. It's a movie based off of a moderately successful game series that basically ended a few years ago.

Here's where I feel like as the only fan here I have to give an opinion on it. Theives in Time (the series 4th installment was pretty good a few flaws) A little bummed Sony isn't making it but there hands are full with the Ratchet & Clank movie. Ironically the vlice actor of the main charachter has started a campaign for an animated series. I doubt it'll happen and we don't even know if Ratchet & Clank has a big enough following for THAT to even be a moderate success. Let alone a Sly Cooper movie which I would consider less successful as a franchise than Ratchet & Clank is. So we (and by we I mean myself since no one else on this forum gives a rats a**) Will just have to see how the waters tes.

Knight a forth installment was actually released a little over a year ago. Just thought I'd share some info. But seeing as Sony has had several cartoonish charachters in a similar veign. I think these movies could prove. To be a good idea. But might bomb considering the video game communities unwillingness to support franchises outside of video games (mostly because most film adaptions of video games have been terrible)

Ironically I look T my assessment of this as I do with most things Sony puts out in the form of gaming (If it works it could prove profitable and establish a trend that will get old in half a decade. If it bombs they'll put not an ounce of effort into fixing the problems and drop the venture all together see PS move and Playstaton All Stars and maybe Vita to an extent but they're actually trying to dig themselves out of the whole they placed Bita in upon launch)
