Matt Hardy and Reby Sky Arrested

Former WWE champion Matt Hardy was arrested at a motel in Virginia earlier this month ... after allegedly getting into a fight with his wrestler wife ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Just look at the mug shots of Hardy and 27-year-old Reby Sky -- both appear bloody and scratched up.

Hardy has multiple scratch marks all over his face and Sky -- real name Rebecca Hardy -- appears to be sporting a fat lip, black eye and several small cuts on her face.

Law enforcement tells TMZ Sports ... cops raced to the Hampton Inn in Emporia, VA on January 1st around 5:45 AM after someone at the hotel call 911.

During the 911 call, obtained by TMZ Sports, the hotel staffer told the operator ... "A guest just came down here and said somebody's beating the hell out of his wife a girl or something."

When cops arrived to the scene, both Matt and Sky were arrested for assault and battery. They were released on $3,500 bail.

Our sources tell us both Matt and Sky got restraining orders against each other.

This is a real shame. I was never a fan of Hardy, but I don't want to see this kind of thing anywhere, ever.

2. I can't be the only person creeped out by Matt being 12 years older than his wife?

Not that uncommon to have a wife that much younger than you. My uncle is married to a woman 10 years older.

Anyway, yea it really is pathetic.

Age difference really depends more on the ages involved than the spread. A 20 year old dating a 15 year old is a lot different than a 30 year old dating a 25 year old. How old is this "Rebel Sky" (stupid name btw) chick anyway?

Yeah I don't have a problem with that. I mean, it's weird that he was in 6th grade when she was born, but at the end of the day, they're both well into adulthood.

Matt Hardy's wife Reby Sky is standing by her husband after a violent incident between the couple at a Virginia hotel ... and doesn't want to end the marriage ... sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ Sports .



We broke the story ... both Reby and her ex-WWE superstar husband were arrested on Jan. 1 for assault and battery after attacking each other inside their hotel room .



Now, sources tell us ... the whole fight started when Reby asked a seemingly intoxicated Matt if he had been drinking or using other substances that night.



FYI -- Matt has had substance abuse issues in the past ... and once completed a WWE-sponsored rehab program.



We're told Matt didn't take kindly to Reby's accusation and the situation escalated into a full blown fight.



After the incident, the two talked out their issues and decided they wanted to try to make their relationship work. They've made several public appearances together since the arrest ... and we're told they're both committed to their marriage .



Interesting note -- the day after the incident, Reby posted a tweet that read ... "Sometimes what doesn't kill you doesn't make you stronger. Sometimes it just makes you wish it had."
