Punisher is a frequent whipping boy of the "see, this is what's wrong with comics!" crowd because of the violence. What they somehow fail to comprehend is that the endless cycle of violence is what Punisher is all about. It's not promoting violence, it's examining the repercussions of violence.
... and Batman is what's wrong with comics.

I've been told that "No one actually likes The Punisher, they just like his shirt" but I wouldn't know, I never picked it up. Looked interesting enough to me.

I've been told that "No one actually likes The Punisher, they just like his shirt" but I wouldn't know, I never picked it up. Looked interesting enough to me. The truth is that ANY comic that makes it past 24 issues has more bad stories than good ones, and Punisher is no different, but I'm a fan of the concept of The Punisher and have enjoyed a ton of the stories he's been in, particularly when they avoid involving him in the broader Marvel Universe. His appearance in the "Civil War" storyline was a great way to highlight certain things that had previously been missing from the story.

The Punisher is a really interesting psychological case. There's all kinds of moral questions about the guy. I'm a fan.
Didn't the CCA at one point have a rule against interracial couples?

Wasn't punisher looked down upon civil war by the other heroes? Didn't cap beat the s*** out of him Yes. Cap allowed Punisher to join his group, but then beat him down and kicked him out because Punisher was killing people (villains, admittedly), and Cap wasn't going to allow that. It was an amazing scene, and gave great insight into how Captain America was kind of slipping at that time. I wouldn't be surprised, it was written at a time when interracial relationships weren't very well received by the public at large... though it does occur to me that if they did have that rule, it wasn't taken terribly seriously... Peter Parker openly flirted with a black chick in the 70's (true, they never actually dated). Now you've got me curious about interracial couples in comics. I'm going to have to go do research.

The civil war was good I felt but the ending really crapped on it for me My only problem with the end of the Civil War storyline was that everybody got back together too easily. After something like that, you don't just shake hands and play nice.

I just got a pretty good laugh. Mike has on at least one occasion referred to me as "a Vulcan" because of my preference for avoiding emotional engagement. I was just watching an episode of Voyager and Tuvac (the resident Vulcan) told the Captain that he "does not experience feelings of nostalgia." I loved it.

I didn't love it or hate it, it was just kind of a show that happened. The only element of the show that I really liked was the outcast older brother who was in military school at the start of the show.
