I'm a writer who is honest, so you'll forgive me if I roll my eyes at all of this talk of "ripping off." Storytelling, even in a visual medium, is not something that one can manage to be "original" about in 2014.

Actually the Lion King is a classic story that is a few hundred years old at least 8) Nearly every story is in one form or another. Actually the Lion King is a classic story that is a few hundred years old at least 8) And the cartoon ripped off several scenes from Kimba. Not to mention that I've heard that characters are nearly identical; such as Kimba having friends that just so happened to be a meerkat and warthog. The Lion King was still the s***, though. Edit: Never watched Kimba. Don't feel the need to. These are just one of those weird facts that you pick up from the internet. *Honk*

Kimba wasn't friends with a meerkat and warthog... He wasn't friends with either species.

Edit: Also... Those pictures are of Rafiki (sp?) and Scar (Who was a jerk... but a bad ass jerk). *Honk*

^^^^^^ Those are The Lion King characters that I'm referring to. They befriended the protagonist (Simba) as/after he escaped his homeland and watched him grow up. Thank god they drank the souls of children to maintain their youthfulness through the entire movie (Not really). I'm pretty sure that Timone is a meerkat and Pumbaa (Google pretty much confirmed that I spelled his name wrong) is a warthog. I'm guessing nothing similar to these two show up in the Japanese cartoon? Edit: Have you watched The Lion King? *Honk*

Actually the Lion King is very similar to Hamlet which was written near the turn of the 17th century. So it's at least that old

Actually, after reading the plot to Kimba.... It seems to have almost nothing to do with The Lion King, just eerily similar scenes and characters... That's just weird. *Honk*

Actually the Lion King is very similar to Hamlet which was written near the turn of the 17th century. So it's at least that old At a vague level, The Lion King is just that traditional story of revenge and reclaiming the throne. What caused all of the commotion is the fact that some of the scenes/characters are too similar to be mere coincidences. *Honk*

That's the lion cub losing his father and having to take over the throne of said father. I (previously before this conversation) was under the impression that The Lion King was more or less a shot for shot remake of Kimba. I drew that conclusion based on the similarity between the scenes alone. I didn't know the story line similarities were on such a vague level. *Honk*
