You can commit suicide at the end of the Coverted mission and still pass it, even if you are out of extra lives.
Yes, it's true. When you drive the Cargo, if you pick up the crate and drive directly toward the checkpoint, you should be roughly inline to smack into a wire pole just as you pass the checkpoint. Now in Coverted you don't need to perfectly land, you can swoop in with a low pass and the mission will detect the crate as being delivered and will end. So when you swoop in for the pass, if you hit the pole the Cargo will explode killing you. However since this happens milliseconds AFTER the crate had been detected as being delivered, you still pass with a 18k payout as you kill yourself after the mission technically ends.
I've done this several times, as long as you fly low enough that the crate delivers, this will never fail. It can be humorous blowing yourself up just for the game to turn around and say you passed.
