Was looking at the unemployment rate for my County and in Nov, 2008 when Obama was voted in, the unemployment rate was 6.5%. Now it's 13.4% with it being as high as 15.9% back in June of last year. Your unemployment rates dropped significantly under Bush, and stayed around the same range the entire time he was in office, before then spiking up again with Obama. Indeed. I wasn't a huge Bush fan but my area was certainly better off with him as president.

For those who aren't aware... the Federal Government is currently deploying armed agents in Nevada to arrest, by force if necessary, a rancher who is holed up on his own land. The crime so awful that they're willing to storm this man's private property with guns blazing if he doesn't submit? He (supposedly) let some of his cattle graze on land that the Feds had set aside for a rare species of tortoise. Yep... this man might potentially die because the Feds want to arrest him for letting cattle eat grass set aside for turtles.
If you're a Christian, I would like to ask you to pray for this man and anyone else who might be on the property with him, and for the Federal Agents who have been sent to handle this.

What a world we live in. Where a tortoise's life is valued over a man's.

You said "supposedly". Do they actually have proof or are they just doing it because they think it might have happened?

Most wildlife and a few domestic species are more valuable over the average joe these days. Not that I hate animals but turtles aren't necessary to sustain life on the planet

You said "supposedly". Do they actually have proof or are they just doing it because they think it might have happened? He's been doing it. He's actually been doing it as defiance against their laws. Although he's doing it because the government took land from his family that they've owned since the 1880s. Of course environmentalists are providing arguments about how him letting his cattle go on the land is destroying the land and taking away the desert tortoises food. However he could use the land for his cattle if he paid the government a fee, which he hasn't been paying since 1992(Or 1993). Also they're sending military units against him because he threatened engaging in a "range war" not because of the fact that he's using land set aside for the tortoises.

Ah, so it's not as bad as I thought. Sounds more like he deserves it.

No, they SAY they're sending in troops because he threatened a range war. Think about that for a second. Who was going to have a "range war" with if it was just a bunch of open land? The only people to fight a "range war" with are the federal troops. Who could simply not be there.

Because I totally feel this way  I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply that EVERY liberal feels this way (although I WOULD say that if you truly considered Liberal policies, you would see that the thinking behind them is very much based in this kind of thinking). My point was that this particular liberal revealed exactly what he really thinks. ... actually it didn't even require getting him mad. He led off with a racial slur 8)

I agree with Chris Rock in that video... and still don't see how it applies to Robert George, a highly educated, well respected intellectual.

He would much rather use childish insult than actually make a point. He seems to have a massive boner for the tea party.

He don't agree with his political views would be my guess.

Is marijuana bad? I've been debating this in my head. Yup. According to Drug Free World: - rapid heart beat, disorientation, lack of physical coordination, often followed by depression or sleepiness. Some users suffer panic attacks or anxiety. - Marijuana smoke contains 50% to 70% more cancer-causing substances than tobacco smoke - One major research study reported that a single cannabis joint could cause as much damage to the lungs as up to five regular cigarettes smoked one after another. Long-time joint smokers often suffer from bronchitis, an inflammation of the respiratory tract. - Studies in Australia in 2008 linked years of heavy marijuana use to brain abnormalities. - And a number of studies have shown a connection between continued marijuana use and psychosis. - Studies show that the mental functions of people who have smoked a lot of marijuana tend to be diminished. The THC in cannabis disrupts nerve cells in the brain affecting memory. - A pregnant woman who regularly smokes marijuana or hashish may give birth prematurely to an undersized, underweight baby

Is marijuana bad? I've been debating this in my head. Depends who you're more willing to listen to. On the one side you have potheads. On the other you have the US government.
