For the record, I strongly disagreed (and still do) with Aubrey's perspective. If someone walks in and starts acting like an asshole, and the people supposedly in charge won't do anything about it, then it shouldn't be everyone else's responsibility to just ignore the asshole. The only thing that makes that situation worse is when, after the asshole has been appropriate responded to, the authority figures decide to THEN show up and punish the responder rather than the person that started the ruckus. ... which is exactly what Aubrey did. Insanely, insanely stupid policy. Stupid beyond belief. Sorry, I had to do one of my "disappearing / reappearing post" things because I almost lost the entire comment in an edit, and I really didn't want to do that.  I personally feel the same way. I never agreed that Aubrey's approach was the better way to handle that particular forum at that particular time. My belief is that when someone's deliberately provoking someone else, then the provocateur should be the target of discipline and / or action. I DO agree with Aubrey's belief that the people who felt provoked should have done a better job of ignoring it, but I don't feel that this changes the first statement While I was at first angry with Aubrey over his philosophy, I eventually came to accept that it was just that- his own philosophy. I don't necessarily regret leaving, but I do regret that I gave him such a hard time over it. Aubrey was just trying to run the site in a way that seemed best to him, my job was to moderate accordingly. I no longer feel that he was the jerk we all thought he was, I just don't see eye to eye with his style. |

Well... Mike double posting is a change of pace from his usual thing of posting, having the post disappear, and then reappear after posts that respond to it... It actually double posted? I keep getting Firefox nags to update my browser, which I refuse to do until I'm absolutely certain that my plugins (in particular "Print Pages to PDF") have been updated to match Mozilla's frantic pace of insisting that Firefox is updated every other day. I'm starting to wonder however if half of my forum issues aren't due to running outdated code. |

I don't have anything against Aubrey personally... in fact, I think he ended up being a very capable administrator and I loved his passion for wrestling. Maybe a bit overly enthusiastic, but there's got to be some kind of counterbalance to guys like me that hate everything 8)
Aubrey's message was not something I was going to listen to when he showed up though. Things had been haywire in the community for too long, and I didn't feel like being told that I didn't know how to handle the idiots.

I don't have anything against Aubrey personally... in fact, I think he ended up being a very capable administrator and I loved his passion for wrestling. Maybe a bit overly enthusiastic, but there's got to be some kind of counterbalance to guys like me that hate everything 8) Aubrey's message was not something I was going to listen to when he showed up though. Things had been haywire in the community for too long, and I didn't feel like being told that I didn't know how to handle the idiots. That was our biggest source of conflict, really. He kept arguing that I should give his policy a chance and I kept arguing that, as an old and prominent member of the forums, I felt that I knew the patterns and personalities well enough to anticipate further aggression and problems as a result of his policies. Again though, that's the one part that I regret- I should have given him a chance. The bigger problem is that the damn structure of the website made it impossible to do things his way and not be extremely stressed about it. If someone was streaming racial slurs at 3 in the morning and Aubrey wasn't awake to give the go ahead to ban him, what was I supposed to do? |

At THQ? The official, active mods were myself, Showtime, and Weez who sort of disappeared back in mid 2011. Then of course Rey01 was modded at the same time as myself but he disappeared about 4 months later. Other than that the other THQ mods were part-time tech guys like Shitkicker or Hurricane or something like that.

At THQ? The official, active mods were myself, Showtime, and Weez who sort of disappeared back in mid 2011. Then of course Rey01 was modded at the same time as myself but he disappeared about 4 months later. Other than that the other THQ mods were part-time tech guys like s***kicker or Hurricane or something like that. it was Weez. i remember his Daniel Bryan avatar. |

I think his username was actually "EdgeHeaded" but he was another one of the nutjobs from the old forum. He thought it was funny to talk about how hot guys were to skeeve people out, but I never believed he was legitimately bisexual. Hey, Edgehead was awesome. Me and him were best buds. |

A combination of Aubrey and I disagreeing about the new policies, pent-up frustration over the inadequacies of the moderation tools, and a couple of specific forum incidents that I wasn't comfortable about. To be perfectly honest, even before Aubrey and I began to bury the hatchet (which itself happened before I met him at the playtest) I came to realize that my frustration with the mod tools, and the overall history of never getting any clear and consistent guidelines for how THQ wanted us to conduct ourselves, is the factor that most influenced my decision to leave. |
