Overrated Musical Acts?..... & Kanye West isn't mentioned once, Almost everyone he has worked with has called him a genius and some have even agreed when he calls himself a musical god... YES GOD... But despite all that he still isn't mentioned here. Damn you all. That's pretty bad... Even The Beatles were brought down due to claiming they were more popular than Jesus.

Kanye West isn't mentioned because he's in a category of his own. He's not a musical act, he's a simple dickhead. Sometimes.. He often makes a good point, But then fucks up big time and says some crazy shit that nobody else can understand like he's just had a stroke.

Notice how I said nothing ill of them? That quote did bring them down, mainly due to it being taken out of context.

That quote did bring them down, mainly due to it being taken out of context. they got some records broken (which i'm sure were paid for) and a few hack dj's got some rub off it, but they were hardly taken down. they still sold a fuckload of records after that. even then pop culture had a very microwave attention span..

I've not done any research but I wouldn't be surprised if the whole controversy actually lead to more sales. In history, anytime something is banned or criticized for such a thing it tends to just make it more popular. Much like banned books circa 16th century Europe and even that whole Tipper Gore sh*t back in the 80's.

not what they said, but why let the truth get in the way of things... They did in fact say they were more popular than Jesus, it was just taken out of context. to be fair I think John was the only one who would've said something like that and not even thought twice about it. In context it can almost be looked at as true.

Kanye and solid points in the same sentence? *Does not compute* And I like to an extent everything he's gone except most of 808's and Yeezus as a concept

I don't follow the Beatles that closely but my understanding is that John was being asked about the group's popularity and basically expressed his confusion about American priorities by saying "wow, we're bigger than Jesus". Then the media was like "JOHN LENNON PROCLAIMS THE BEATLES TO BE GREATER THAN CHRIST".
If that IS what he was trying to say I wouldn't know, it's not how I heard it.

I've always thought they've had a pretty interesting story. Particularly everything surrounding their breakup and the financial fallout after it. But that's just me

I like the Beatles quite well actually. Particularly their slower songs like "Blackbird", "Long and Winding Road", and "Here Comes the Sun." I can't argue with them being overrated though.

He was one of two dudes in one of the e-feds that claimed to be asexual, which is statistically impossible 8) I knew Phil was asexual, but I never knew Joey was... Meh. None of them were, it's a $#@!ing ridiculous claim. Something like one third of one half of one percent of the human population of planet Earth is asexual.

Phil was more likely homosexual. He did express near-vomit-inducing disgust of boobs and the female ass several times.

The Long and Winding Road, I've Just Seen a Face, Yesterday, Eleanor Rigby, Across the Universe, When I'm 64, and especially In My Life. Those are my favorites. The Beatles made some absolutely fantastic songs. They were also so prolific that they made hordes of crappy, forgettable songs. I feel that they're overrated, but I really love some of their stuff.

This is exactly what he said "Christianity will go. It will vanish and shrink. I needn't argue about that; I'm right and I'll be proved right. We're more popular than Jesus now; I don't know which will go first—rock 'n' roll or Christianity. Jesus was all right but his disciples were thick and ordinary. It's them twisting it that ruins it for me." The words "more popular than Jesus" appear verbatim, so how was that NOT what he said, exactly? Were they brought down by saying it? No. Did he say it? Absolutely.

Wow.
