It was Brad Maddox.... Yup. Well it is because the question is "what video game character". In this case we could talk about Lara (or Laura) Croft's boobtistas size. That is on topic too because it involves video gaming. Then so was the super hero discussion, therefore, we never went off topic to begin with, according to your explanation. We did went off topic with the Nick Fury thing because yes he is involved in games. But we were talking about comics Fury and not video games Fury. |

You are correct, you did. It didn't stay there though. The conversations were all over the place. You can't say they weren't. GTA conversation wasn't anywhere near as pervasive as the comic stuff is. Not anywhere close. It didn't come up as often or last as long, and even if it DID wind up everywhere, such as the movie threads (which I doubt), it wasn't like it had already been given its own entire section of the forum. It was maybe five people on a forum of hundreds spending perhaps a month talking about the first new game to come along in five years. It dripped into a few irrelevant conversations, yes. And it did annoy some people, definitely. Though in the case of GTA most of the complaints were from people who by their own admission "didn't get the hype" and voiced clear disinterest in the series to begin with, right from the getgo before anyone even had a chance to beat it into the ground. Until the last weeks before release I wasn't even a part of this because prior to that I paid absolutely no attention to the game, its announcements, or its prerelease hype. Though I'm sure that I was guilty of bugging someone with the subject, I immediately tried to limit its influence as soon as someone let on that they were getting upset about it. It came up...everywhere, and last quite some time, every time. Also, even people that were excited about the game were admitting it was getting talked about way too much. Also, to say that Comics have their own section, I'll argue. Putting "Comics" into the same part as "Books" or whatever kind of leads me (and probably many others) into thinking it's just the book aspect, not that that's really a problem to me. Comics nowadays are in everything, so it's going to obviously be talked more about than GTA, which is only a game. Movies, Games, books, Roleplaying.....you can't say that the comic discussions don't belong there, because they are literally a big part of all of those discussions. |
