X Box One Problems

Mere hours after the release of Microsofts XBox One, Multiple people are reporting major problems with their new Next-Gen consoles.

With today’s launch of Xbox One, some owners are discovering various problems with their next-gen console.



An IGN reader's system is in an endless cycle of crashing and rebooting. Another has issues with his headset outputting nothing but static. Others have seen the "E100" notification, indicating a total hardware failure caused by an update error. The Xbox One troubleshooting page notes that this error requires you submit your Xbox One for repair.



You can do so via the Xbox Online Service Center.





Other new Xbox One owners have reported numerous issues to the Xbox support message board, including concerning issues with disc drives, unusual sounds coming from the machine, more spontaneous system shutdowns, missing pixels, and blank or frozen screens. Others can't get their systems to start in the first place.



In the video below, you can see the Xbox One making a horrifying grinding noise as the owner inserts a disc.



Of course, these are anecdotal instances of hardware malfunction rather than a representation of a larger, Red Ring of Death-level problem. That said, we've contacted Microsoft about solutions to these problems and any others. In the meantime, the IGN Xbox One Problems wiki page may have explanations for problems you may encounter.

I don't know why people buy things at launch. If you wait the library of games for your system will grow, the system could be cheaper, and most of the game will be cheaper. Plus, a lot of hardware issues could get worked out.

Over the weekend, Sony broke two records: Over one million PS4s were sold in the first 24 hours of availability — but on the other hand, it seems the PS4 might usurp the Xbox 360′s crown as the world’s least reliable console. Sony’s customer service department will replace these broken consoles — characterized by a blue light of death (BLOD) — but due to the dearth of stock in North America, early adopters are being told that they may have to wait months for a replacement PS4. Why are so many PS4s dead on arrival? Is this the second act of the Xbox 360 red ring of death saga, or is it something altogether more complex?

If you have a bricked PS4 and you’re looking for tips on how to fix it, skip past the next section.

Sony has admitted that around 0.4% of PS4s sold in the US have been dead out of the box, or have broken very soon after being powered up. There doesn’t seem to be a singular cause of this mass-bricking, and likewise there seem to be a few different ways that a PS4 can die. This indicates that there isn’t a single flaw that’s causing the PlayStation 4 to break, but a variety or combination of factors that are only rearing their ugly heads now that there are one million PS4s in North American homes.

The PS4's failure rate is under 1%.

It’s worth noting that a failure rate of 0.4% isn’t actually that bad. If Sony sold one million PS4s, 0.4% equates to 4,000 dead consoles. Given the number of poor reviews on Amazon (many of which are from verified buyers), I suspect Sony might be understating the failure rate — but even if it’s nearer 1 or 2%, that’s still not awful (but definitely indicative of a manufacturing/shipping flaw). Some of the Amazon reviews could be fake, too.

Sony (Yes, I prefer Sony, but like both for different reasons) is allowed to have 4000 broken consoles from day 1?

Microsoft isn't allowed to have problems though?

That means I would rather buy a PS4 knowing of the possible issues if that makes any sense.
