Well, at least the victim is in stable condition. My main concern is that they actually thought slenderman is real.

Obviously there was something askew with those young women, Slenderman was just the focus for it, for whatever reason.

It's pretty messed up. I'm not quite sure what to make of it.

It doesn't seem to be getting a ton of national coverage, so we may never really know what all was going on.
If you guys remember the Columbine thing (you're probably too young), the "news" reported a lot of "information" about that, most of which turned out to be false, but because they were done talking about it and have moved on to other things, most people believe the misinformation that the media shoveled in them in the first week or two after the incident. There's an entire book dedicated to how wrong most peoples' perception of Columbine is.

I was like 8? when the Columbine thing happened, I remember it but obviously not a lot of the details that were leaked out.
I'm pretty sure I overheard about the Slenderman incident on the news yesterday.

I was in 9th grade when the Columbine thing went down. I remember being in band practice when I heard about. Sounded horrifying, this slender man thing. I don't really know what to say about it, to me with very little information, no different than when people would say the devil made them do it.

It's really not any different, at least not to my mind, except that the implications for society might be. People have done horrible things and blamed it on one thing or another for all of recorded history. In modern times we have a bizarre fascination with "root causes" as if nobody would ever do anything bad without (insert whatever "cause")

In modern times we have a bizarre fascination with "root causes" as if nobody would ever do anything bad without (insert whatever "cause") And for some reason the cause is almost never familial issues or mental issues, it always has to be manipulated into being caused by whatever it's cool for the media to hate at that point in time.

It still makes me roll my eyes. People make decisions, and they need to be held accountable for those decisions. Yes mental instability and familial issues are something that should be considered. My bottom line for most of these acts, this goes with weapons of any kind, hold people accountable.
