Although they did talk about other things last year, a lot of times. 30 years of WM was also a very big thing, people just like to moan. They didn't, and 30 YoWM may have been a "very big thing" for you. For me, it was total BS, and a slap in the face to everyone who actually works hard to put out the product in the here and now. A lot of people are dissatisfied with these nostalgia modes, and the fact that the discontent grew with each passing week as nothing else was ever talked about should give you some indication that you're way off base in assuming that everybody should have been onboard with the mode, much less the choice to market the mode as if it was the only thing that mattered about the game. Again, they talked about all modes. I knew in fact every mode that was available before launch, I knew all of the roster and all of the gameplay improvements. Just because they promoted the 30 years mode heavily doesn't mean they didn't cover all bases.

So, to your mind, "oh yeah these modes happen to exist" and one brief explanation of the changes to Universe is equal to months of hyping 30 YoWM. Whatever blows your hair back dude. IMO the term "marketing disaster" pretty much exists for when a company chooses to do something for marketing, and half of the audience is immediately turned off.

They did a whole week on the changes in the other modes with Q&A vids and everything. Half of the audience wasn't immediately turned off either. Just some of the "I don't want nostalgia in my face" guys

They did a whole week on the changes in the other modes with Q&A vids and everything. ... the Q&A vids where they responded to such burning questions as "will AJ Lee have her costume from (insert random PPV where drooling idiot thought AJ Lee was hawt)?" You choosing to intermittently bash or ignore the detractors doesn't mean they weren't plentiful.

To be fair, when they did show universe, they did get pretty extensive and tried to cover all of the basis. I thought they did very well with that presentation. I just think they could've focused a little less on showing us Hogan and a little more on the rest of the game, but I don't they did bad showcasing the other parts of the game when they did.
