Pretty much Season Mode. WCW would be my second. NXT is a no go for me.

Anything but WCW mode. Nostalgia modes are a waste of time.

Return of Season mode. This probably comes as a surprise.
Granted, Universe is similar in some important respects and I still absolutely love the mode, but it's not Season.

As a matter of interest, what is everyone's gripe about this possibility? Is it because it could focus on wrestlers not many people really know of?

I'd love to see the NXT wrestlers on the roster, but I want the actual mode to be season mode. Perhaps if you create a custom character, he starts in NXT and can get promoted to RAW?

Exactly. Season mode could take care of a players' wish to recreate the basic NXT setup. I'm fine with having NXT members to play with but I really don't want the experience of taking a jobber and working him up to the point of mattering to be the core theme of the game.

You're making the whole "NXT" mode even worse for me. If there's a season mode, you shouldn't have to be a custom superstar. Hell, a lot of people don't even like using CAWs.

IFIt should be an option. I, personally, prefer to take control of a real superstar, but playing as a CAW SHOULD be an option, as should playing as NXT superstars.

Can someone explain what season mode is again (This was how the SYM story went, the season in that game started with the draft) You started by picking any guy on the roster, then you begin a season of monthly storylines for 2 years. Each week began with a match card, and before your match you can roam about backstage, go to the GM's office and ask for title shots or your ranking on the roster. You could also interact with other guys backstage, which could lead to having hardcore match or other things happening. If you start as a CAW you start on Heat for a month before going to the main roster Here is a link to most (maybe all) of the cutscenes and storylines from SYM www.gamefaqs.com/ps2/561262-wwe-smackdown-shut-your-mouth/faqs/21054HCTP was a similar sort of thing minus the draft to start That's just a general kind of overview

That's basically the gist of it.
Season mode hit its peak in 2002-2003 with SYM and HCTP. My favorite was SYM because the story mode was actually less linear than shiningwizard makes it sound. Yes, there were lots of stories, but they weren't necessarily every month. The game DID have specific story events that you had to play through but they occurred at designated times (for example the NWO invasion at the beginning of year 2) but when those things weren't happening you were free to do your own thing and make your own stories happen. You went about doing this by interfering in other wrestlers' matches or starting friendships or rivalries with the people you randomly met backstage. Often, how you interacted with people would determine what kind of relationship you had with them- the SYM season mode had lots of branching paths. Not only was this the case in wrestler interactions and the occasional promo, it was also the case in matches themselves. You could often choose whether to jump someone during their entrance or beat them after the match, and even storylines- such as your placement in the Royal Rumble- would go down different paths depending on whether you win or lose, and when. The storyline never ended if you lost a match, it just changed- and while you could in fact talk to your GM about getting a title match or checking your ranking (which actually changed depending on your wins and losses, much like Universe) you didn't HAVE to. That was just another optional tool for you to carve out your own path. Speaking of carving out paths, you'd also get all kinds of opportunities to change things up by having people like Jim Ross come up to you backstage and ask whether you wanted to try something such as forming a tag team or going on a tour.
In short, the mode was extremely dynamic, ever changing and non-linear- a lot like Universe mode- but there was a lot of "life" to the game in the form of loads of character interaction and backstage cutscenes. It's my favorite mode in the series. The HCTP season mode was similar and some people prefer it because it places much more storyline emphasis on your character, but I never liked it as much because it was more linear and repetitive on subsequent playthroughs as a result.

Universe needs more branching cutscenes, either that or add Season Mode. I don't want one to replace the other, though.

I don't care... I didn't care for season mode to be honest. It was ok but slightly boring to me, so since my option isn't really up there. I'll just select that option.

Yeah, why the heck would we want to focus on the future of the company instead of the ancient $#@!ing past.

Again, because we haven't jerked off Hogan and Company enough yet. Maybe 10 more years of fellatio for the dead past and we can move on.
