Because that last Apes movie wasn't stupid enough... I really liked it, but to fair I'm a pretty big fan of about 3 /12 of the original five films as well. Man, those Thor costumes really are lame though. |

Then on like the fifth viewing it suddenly dawned on me that "wait, this movie is terrible". I think (actually no, I'm sure) that the novelty of a modern apes movie, the decision to actually have them move and act more like apes, and the scenery-chewing of Tom Roth made me blind to everything that the film did wrong. |

The new one delivers the premise in a somber serious fashion so I suppose it could be harder to swallow but that's in keeping with the style of the original films. The Burton movie was basically a silly, extended chase sequence. |
