The way I see it, if you understand why the right to keep and bear arms is so essential to liberty, you're always just one step away from realizing you want the Government to shut up and go away entirely. Cause Anarchy has proven to be extremely successful in the past...

I used to really like Pitt when he was in movies like Kalifornia. Now he's just the uber-liberal who's adopting hordes of children and talking to the president about foreign policy in between bouts of playing obnoxious characters and banging his wife who's made a career of doing roughly the same thing. I love kalifornia a lost gem. I love the part where Pitt keeps cutting holes put the pictures nd sticks his tongue through them. A very small part of the movie but hilarious every time I get the impression that he just ad-libbed that scene to make the character more filthy. He was surprisingly convincing as a disgusting redneck hick serial killer. Kalifornia's an all-time favorite.

No less so than tyranny, but I'm not talking about anarchy, I'm talking about personal responsibility and personal liberty being legitimately valued within a culture. There's a huge gulf between the government not telling you what you can and cannot own, what you must and must not buy, etc, and TOTAL ANARCHY RUN FOR THE HILLS!

That system is called "Anarchy" although that word has recently took on an entirely different meaning.

You really need to get your literacy checked son. I clearly never said "no government" in any form, and the context in which I used the phrase "shut up and go away entirely" was very clearly in reference to Constitutional Liberties.

So if the government went away entirely, would there still be government?

So if the government went away entirely, would there still be government? Learn this quote, and love it. "Text without context is pretext for a proof text." In this instance, the context is fairly clear; I was referring to the government "going away" within the realm of Constitutional Liberty, meaning that they should get out of my house and my car and my lungs and anywhere else they've seen fit to limit my rights based on their perception of what's best for me and/or society at large.

Ah, okay. I misinterpreted what you were saying. My bad... Also I am inclined to agree with you, but unfortunately unless we were to rise up in active protest of our government, it's only going to get worse.

i enjoy Bale i enjoy Leo Hardy is great. the work he did in Warrior made the film for me. phoenix...no. bad. cannot act. cannot even pretend to act. shame on whoever fixed his hare lip..sure it would have been hideous for others to look at, but it would have kept him from being in movies. Pitt is all about the film..

Lincoln is overrated trash and a complete insult to actual history. I don't care if he put on the performance of a lifetime... if you help re-write history for the political gain of the failure currently in office, you're an enormous piece of $#@!

Junior, read a history book. That movie is LITTERED with historical inaccuracies. Even Liberals can't defend it's historical accuracy. As the guy on NPR said in his best effort to sugar coat the turd... "It's not a perfect film, but it's an important film." Selling the message > historical accuracy? That bullshit might work for you, but not for me.

Day-Lewis was fantastic in Lincoln. He didn't write the script.
He was excellent in There Will Be Blood as well, another movie that you hate.

He didn't write the script, but if he had a human conscience, he wouldn't have been in a film that intentionally re-wrote the legacy of one of our greatest Presidents with the sole purpose of defending the legacy of failure that followed. ... don't even get me started on the ridiculously oversimplified "rich people are EEEEEEEVIL INDEED!" message of There Will Be Blood. Of course, that was written by a guy at least admitted to his agenda.

Just think of how many movies there are where the main villain, or a major villain, is a corporate business man. Of course the government is pretty interchangeable with rich people in films, and I'm pretty sure those two are the most overused villain archetypes in movies.
