Yes, because there's only one black superhero in the entire Marvel Universe. Doom really is a genius. To be fair it was either him or Black Panther .

No no no, crazy black man you guys, not just black in general. Oh, as for Ultimate Electro's design... He started as a skinny white doof in a bathrobe. As for Ultimate Rhino, fun fact: Spider-Man never beat him. Another fun fact: He was beaten before Spidey could arrive on the scene. I however do not know if he made any subsequent appearances thereafter, so yeah...

Yes, because there's only one black superhero in the entire Marvel Universe. Doom really is a genius. It's uh.. the 1970's bro. Wanna guess how many black male super heroes with any kind of firepower there were in Marvel back then? It's not like Doom was going to think "oh crap, maybe it's Blade!"

Yep. Ultimate Nick Fury. Who the heck cares? He's (thankfully) not even under the Marvel umbrella!

To be fair it was either him or Black Panther . Or War machine, Blade, Falcon, Brother Voodoo, Bishop, Cloak, Night Thrasher, etc... Black Panther wouldn't have been seen by Doom's people. James Rhodes debuted in 79 (still after this comic was printed), but War Machine didn't exist until the 80's Falcon wouldn't have been considered powerful enough at the time to be any kind of threat to even Doom's spankiest troops. Brother Voodoo existed but nobody knew or cared who he was. He certainly wasn't on Doom's radar Bishop wasn't a thing, and wouldn't debut for almost 20 years... Cloak didn't exist (appeared in 82) Night Thrasher didn't exist (89) ... people need to understand how rare black characters were at that time, especially black characters who would have been powerful enough to take on one of Marvel's top tier villains. Power Man was a stereotype and was frequently written in a fairly racist manner.. but he was groundbreaking, because white kids in the suburbs saw a black dude who could kick as much ass as just about anybody, who didn't back down from The Thing, etc. Power Man was a big deal in the 70's.

Spawn was created in the 90's. By then, black heroes weren't rare anymore. In the 70's, Marvel basically had Blade, Black Panther, Power Man, and Falcon... and of those, the only ones who would have had the balls to go at Doom in his home territory without a team backing them up were Black Panther and Power Man. ... and Black Panther $#@!ing sucks all the sweaty ballsacks in all of the universes ever dreamt of by man, so $#@! him.

Spawn was cool for like a year. When they moved away from the gritty format and started including angels and 27,000 versions of Spawn from other times and realities... it became incredibly stupid. Either way, it wasn't a good fit for Marvel in the 90's. Now even mainstream Marvel is hyper-violent, so it's a wash.

I just wanted to know if he was black. As for black Marvel characters what about Bishop? The lovechild of Cable and Bishop?! It's a shame we're no longer in the nineties, this dude would have surpassed the likes of Venom and Woverine on the popularity scale!

The dialogue augments the humor of the action tenfold. The "plorp" too.
